Canada
Canada is the world’s second-largest country, stretched between three oceans: the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Arctic. On British Columbia’s Pacific coast, Vancouver sits between mountains and sea, temperate rainforest runs along the shore, and the waters and forests around Vancouver Island are home to whales and bears. On the island’s west coast lies Tofino, with its surf beaches, while Whistler means skiing in winter and mountain biking and hiking in summer. Further east rise the Canadian Rockies, with Banff National Park, Lake Louise and Jasper, a reason to come back.
Toronto, the country’s biggest city, has a lively food scene, galleries and Niagara Falls within easy reach. French-speaking Montréal draws visitors with the cobbled streets of Old Montréal, its festivals and its restaurants. Far to the east, off the coast of Newfoundland, Fogo Island stands in the North Atlantic, a rugged, quiet place of fishing villages.
Canada has four distinct seasons: winters are cold and snowy, with skiing from December to April, and summers are warm. The coastal wilderness lodges and Fogo Island are seasonal, and in the east autumn turns the forests red and gold. Canada suits nature and wildlife lovers, skiers, food lovers, families and honeymooners.
