Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler sits at the foot of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler, framed by British Columbia’s Coast Mountains. The resort spreads across a nine-storey East Building and a six-storey West Building, with an eight-storey block of private residences alongside, and counts 273 rooms, 95 of them suites, plus 37 residences. Burrowes Huggins Architects designed the buildings and Brayton & Hughes the interiors: stone, dark wood and fabrics in natural tones, large windows onto mountain, valley and forest, and a gas fireplace in every room.

The resort works in every season, from skiing on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains in winter to alpine trails, mountain lakes and golf in summer. It is known for its award-winning spa, a heated outdoor pool open all year and SIDECUT steakhouse. The guest programme takes in daily wine tastings, yoga, guided forest walks, craft classes and s’mores by the fire.

Location

The resort stands at 4591 Blackcomb Way in Whistler’s pedestrian-only Upper Village, among galleries, boutiques and restaurants; the base of Blackcomb Mountain is a five-minute walk or a complimentary shuttle ride away. Vancouver International Airport is 135 km away, around 2.5 hours by car along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway, and the concierge arranges airport meet-and-greets and transfers. Whistler’s heliport lies about 9 km north, a floatplane flies from downtown Vancouver in summer (30 minutes), and valet parking is available.

Spa

The Spa has 13 treatment rooms finished in slate, muted forest tones and natural textures, with louvred shutters that let in daylight while keeping privacy. Treatments begin in a relaxation lounge and end in the Ursa Lounge, inspired by the Ursa Major constellation, where guided meditations are held. The menu runs from multi-stage signature journeys and massage to body rituals, facials (including Omorovicza), manicures and pedicures, with the Sea to Sky signature massage at its heart. Eucalyptus steam rooms sit in the locker rooms, and a cedar barrel sauna and whirlpools outdoors. Massages and facials are from age 14, nail services from 12.

Sports & leisure

The 647 m² fitness centre has a studio and Peloton bikes, with daily yoga, Pilates, spin and stretch classes for guests and personal trainers on request. Complimentary e-bikes, guided forest bathing, seasonal craft classes, wine tastings and tours of the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre are part of a stay. In winter the concierge books heli-skiing, cat skiing, snowmobile tours, snowshoeing and bobsleigh; in summer, guided hikes, whitewater rafting, ziplining, bear-viewing safaris, fishing, paddling on Alta Lake, and helicopter and seaplane flights over the glaciers. Nicklaus North (designed by Jack Nicklaus) and Whistler Golf Club (Arnold Palmer) are 5–6 minutes away, with privileges for guests.

For children

Families have childcare services, a seasonal play room, a games room, a kids’ menu, children’s robes and slippers, a personalised welcome amenity and special holiday events for children and teens. Rooms can be prepared for young guests with cribs, high chairs, playpens and child-proofing items.

Restaurants & bars

The resort has two restaurants, a seasonal whisky bar, a café and a pool bar, with in-room dining around the clock.

  • SIDECUT Steakhouse — a modern steakhouse serving Canadian Prime cuts, Pacific seafood and A5 Olive-Fed Wagyu, with a private dining room
  • Braidwood Tavern — breakfast, après-ski cocktails, hearty classics and shareable plates in a relaxed mountain setting
  • The Library — an intimate seasonal whisky bar with an open fireplace and a collection of The Macallan single malts
  • Braidwood Café — a seasonal café with pastries and espresso to go
  • Pool Bar — drinks and bites by the pool with mountain views
Swimming

The 23-metre free-form outdoor pool is heated and open all year, with three whirlpools, a cedar sauna and a pool bar alongside and views of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains from the water.

Skiing

The resort is not ski-in, ski-out, but the base of Blackcomb Mountain is a five-minute walk or a complimentary shuttle ride away. Its own Ski Concierge by the Blackcomb gondola handles equipment storage and transport, overnight boot drying, fittings, tuning, rentals and lessons, with coffee in the morning and hot chocolate in the afternoon. Rentals are fitted at the shop on the resort’s ground floor, and for Whistler Mountain the shuttle stops a five-minute walk from its base. The concierge books lift passes and private or group ski and snowboard lessons, including a day on the slopes with an Olympian.

Pets

Dogs and cats are welcome in nearly all rooms and suites at no extra charge, up to two per room, house-trained and at least six months old, with no size or breed limits. A bed, bowls and locally made treats await; pets must be leashed outside the room and are not allowed in indoor dining areas, though they may join guests on the outdoor patios. The concierge suggests walking trails and can connect guests with local pet-sitters.

Rooms

The resort offers 18 categories: rooms, suites, specialty suites and two- to four-bedroom residences with full kitchens. The rooms are among the largest in the village, with residential dark-wood interiors, a gas fireplace, a sitting area and views of the mountains or of the courtyard and forest.
