Victoria
Victoria is Australia’s smallest mainland state, and its highlights cluster around Melbourne. Half an hour west of the city lies Werribee, with a nineteenth-century mansion, a rose garden and an open-range zoo, while to the south-east the Mornington Peninsula offers wineries known for pinot noir and chardonnay, hot springs, golf courses and the beaches of Port Phillip Bay. Both pair easily with a few days in Melbourne, and the most pleasant months are November to April.
