Saffire above Great Oyster Bay and the Hazards

Tasmania, the island state at Australia’s southern tip, protects a large share of its land as national parks and World Heritage wilderness. On the east coast the Freycinet Peninsula, with the pink granite peaks of the Hazards, frames Wineglass Bay, one of the most photographed bays in the country, and nearby Coles Bay is known for oysters and mussels straight from the water. Days are for walking trails, sea kayaking and Tasmanian wine. The climate is cool and changeable, warmest from December to March.
