About this hotel
General information
Acqualina sits directly on the Atlantic in Sunny Isles Beach, north of Miami Beach, on 1.8 hectares that include its own stretch of sand. Its architecture and gardens take their cue from a Mediterranean villa, and the hotel shares the site with the Acqualina residences and The Estates, linked to it by a sky bridge.
The hotel itself is intimate: 55 rooms and 44 suites, all with generous layouts and private terraces. It is best known for a Forbes Five-Star spa, four pools, a line-up of restaurants running from the Greek Avra Miami to the Italian Il Mulino New York, and a complimentary marine-themed camp for children. Families return year after year, and couples come for quiet evenings by the ocean.
Location
The resort stands at 17875 Collins Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach, on the coast between Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is about 21 km away and Miami International Airport about 32 km; the concierge arranges limousine transfers.
Spa
Acqualina Spa, a Forbes Five-Star spa of about 1,860 m², faces the ocean. It has eleven treatment rooms, the Royal Spa Suite for couples with its own steam shower, separate women’s and co-ed relaxation lounges built around a Himalayan salt wall, an outdoor spa pool and a heated jet pool beneath a Roman waterfall. The Ritual Flow thermal circuit links a Finnish sauna, a Himalayan salt sauna, a crystal steam room, an ice fountain and a cold plunge. Treatments use Seed to Skin, an organic Tuscan skincare line; there is also a hair salon, a boutique and a light spa menu served on the terrace.
Sports & leisure
The AcquaFit fitness centre is equipped with Technogym Artis machines, with body sculpting and Zumba classes at weekends and personal training, Hatha yoga and mat Pilates on request. The adults’ pool is kept for lap swimming in the morning, and there is an oceanfront football pitch, a basketball hoop and games around the pools and on the beach. The concierge arranges trips to the Everglades, private lessons and other outings.
For children
AcquaMarine Camp is a complimentary marine-themed programme for children aged 4–12, run with the local children’s camp provider Miami Fitness Connection. It operates Friday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm, with a different theme each day: ocean life, the journey of the sea turtle and tropical treasure hunts. Hands-on learning is mixed with arts, crafts and outdoor games; places are booked through the concierge at least 24 hours ahead.
Restaurants & bars
The restaurants all look out to the ocean:
- Avra Miami — Greek seaside-taverna cooking, with fish chosen from an ice display, charcoal grilling and the restaurant’s own olive oil; set in The Estates and reached by the sky bridge
- Il Mulino New York — Italian classics and daily specials, lunch and dinner indoors or on the terrace above the Atlantic
- Ke-uH — Japanese fusion with its own bar, dinner only, indoors or outside
- Costa Grill — right on the beach: seafood, grills and pizzas with Florida and Mediterranean flavours, open to resort guests, residents and beach club members
- AQ Gelato & Coffee Bar — coffee, gelato, pastries and Champagne on the lobby level
From Thursday to Saturday, candlelit four-course dinners are served on the beach, picnic baskets can be packed on request, and in-room dining runs through the day.
Swimming
The resort has about 120 m of private white-sand beach on the Atlantic. Its four pools — the Beach Club pool, a recreational pool, an adults-only pool and the spa pool — all have cabanas and food and drink service.
Pets
Small dogs up to about 11 kg are welcome; they receive a small welcome gift on arrival, and the concierge can point owners to pet services nearby.
