About this hotel
General information
The Berkeley’s story began some three hundred years ago as a coffee house on the corner of Piccadilly and Berkeley Street, and as a hotel it has gone its own way for more than a century. Today it stands in Knightsbridge, on the edge of Belgravia and facing Hyde Park, as part of Maybourne’s London collection.
The hotel is known above all for design. Each room and suite category is the work of a named designer — André Fu, Joyce Wang, John Heah, Helen Green Design, Robert Angell, Michelle Wu — and the grandest suites sit in glass rooftop pavilions ringed by terraces. It is home to Cedric Grolet’s first pâtisserie outside France, a seasonal open-air rooftop pool with city views, and every guest has access to the Surrenne Belgravia wellbeing club.
Location
The hotel stands on the corner of Knightsbridge and Wilton Place, opposite Hyde Park, less than ten minutes’ walk from Harrods and Harvey Nichols and close to Sloane Street; Belgravia, Buckingham Palace, the Royal Albert Hall and the South Kensington museums are all within walking distance. Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge stations on the Piccadilly line are a few minutes away. Heathrow is 45–60 minutes by car, Gatwick about 90 minutes and St Pancras 30–45 minutes; the hotel runs its own chauffeured fleet and offers valet parking.
Spa
Surrenne Belgravia, Maybourne’s wellbeing and longevity club, spans four floors, and access is included with every stay. It has a 22 m lap pool, saunas including an infrared one, aromatic steam rooms and a snow shower, a hyperbaric chamber, and seven treatment rooms for four-hands massages and Oxygeneo facials, along with IV infusions given by qualified clinicians. The menu at Surrenne Café was devised by nutritionist Rose Ferguson.
Sports & leisure
A whole floor of Surrenne Belgravia is given to the Tracy Anderson Studio, alongside a gym equipped by Peloton and Technogym and a studio for group classes. In spring and summer the heated open-air rooftop pool, reserved for hotel guests, looks out over Hyde Park and Belgravia. The house car runs guests to Maybourne’s London restaurants, and the concierge handles theatre seats, shopping and trips out of town.
For children
A dedicated Kids Concierge plans museum days and picnics in the park, books babysitters and arranges surprises for young guests. Children receive welcome touches, selected rooms and suites can be connected, and in summer the rooftop pool is a family favourite.
Restaurants & bars
The Berkeley’s restaurants and bars are open to hotel guests and visitors alike.
