Corinthia London

About this hotel

General information

Corinthia London occupies a historic building on Whitehall, a few steps from Downing Street and Trafalgar Square. It first opened in 1885 as the Metropole Hotel and, after an ambitious restoration involving renowned designers, reopened in 2011 with its dignity and understated English polish intact.

Its 279 rooms include 62 suites and seven individually styled penthouses with terraces overlooking London. Biome by Corinthia London spreads over four floors and is one of the city’s largest hotel spas, the restaurants and bars are known for their striking interiors, and events are served by a ballroom for up to 350 guests, meeting rooms and a business centre. The concierge handles theatre tickets, limousines and car hire, and weddings can be arranged.

Location

The hotel is on Whitehall Place in central London, close to 10 Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey and the Royal Opera House.

Spa

Biome by Corinthia London spans four floors. The thermal floor has a swimming pool, a vitality pool, an amphitheatre sauna, a steam room, an ice fountain and sleep pods; there are 17 treatment rooms using the British brand Wildsmith, separate men’s and women’s areas with saunas and steam rooms, a Spa Lounge with a menu devised by nutrition scientist Dr Federica Amati, and a Daniel Galvin hair salon.

Sports & leisure

The Biome gym, open to hotel guests around the clock, is equipped by Peloton, Technogym and BLK BOX and staffed by personal trainers, and the spa pool is available for swimming.

Restaurants & bars

The hotel’s restaurants and bars pair British and southern Italian cooking with a touch of theatre.

  • Kerridge’s — Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge’s first London restaurant, serving British classics with his own twist and some tableside theatre; a private dining room seats 16
  • Georgie’s Bar — a relaxed bar inside Kerridge’s for martinis, cocktails, beer and generous snacks
  • Mezzogiorno by Francesco Mazzei — the cooking of Calabria, Puglia and Sicily: handmade pasta, seafood and dishes for sharing
  • Crystal Moon Lounge — afternoon tea beneath a Baccarat crystal chandelier, with all-day dining too
  • Velvet — a cocktail and Champagne bar created with mixologist Salvatore Calabrese, with live music in the evenings; adults only
  • The Northall Bar — breakfast, signature dishes, cocktails and a curated wine list in a grand bar
  • The Garden — a seasonal British menu and cocktails in the courtyard, with a fire and a cigar humidor
  • Private dining and round-the-clock in-room dining
