About this hotel
General information
For more than two centuries Claridge’s has been one of the defining addresses of Mayfair. In the 1920s it became an art deco landmark and a favourite of film stars, statesmen, fashion designers and royalty. The interiors still move between Victorian grandeur and pure art deco, from the Dale Chihuly chandelier in the Foyer to the restored ballroom and the monogrammed fireplaces found in many suites.
No two rooms or suites are alike: some are classic, some art deco, some contemporary. The top categories were shaped by Michelle Wu, André Fu, Pierre-Yves Rochon, Rémi Tessier and Bryan O’Sullivan Studio, and guests in the signature suites have a personal butler. Part of Maybourne, the hotel has a spa with a pool, a clutch of restaurants and bars, and an afternoon tea in The Foyer & Reading Room with more than a century of history behind it.
Location
The hotel stands on the corner of Brook Street and Davies Street in Mayfair, close to Hyde Park and London’s principal shopping streets. Bond Street Underground station is a five-minute walk, Oxford Circus ten. Heathrow is about 50 minutes by car and Gatwick an hour and a half; Paddington and Victoria stations are 15 minutes away and St Pancras, for Eurostar, 20. The concierge arranges transfers in Maybourne’s own fleet, and guests in The Octagon or above can arrive by Flexjet helicopter at the Battersea heliport.
Spa
Claridge’s Spa is open daily from 8am to 9pm. At its centre is a heated pool beneath a multi-vaulted ceiling and stone columns, with private cabanas alongside, plus a small electrolyte-rich relaxation pool designed by André Fu. There are seven treatment rooms with private bathrooms, steam rooms, separate saunas in the women’s and men’s changing suites, and The Pink Room, a hammam ritual on a heated pink onyx bed. Treatments open and close with rituals inspired by the Japanese Koh-do ceremony; resident names include Teresa Tarmey, Josh Wood, Augustinus Bader and MZ Skin, and a wellness concierge builds personal programmes.
Sports & leisure
The spa’s fitness studio is equipped by NOHrD, PENT and Peloton, with personal trainers available in the gym or in the room. The concierge secures theatre and exhibition tickets and arranges chauffeured days out of town and children’s activities. Claridge’s Flowers, a working florist, sits on Brook’s Mews, Claridge’s Shop sells tableware and homeware, and wine lovers can join tastings and winemaker dinners.
For children
The spa pool keeps family swimming hours daily from 8am to 10am, Dante Mayfair has a children’s menu, and the concierge plans activities for younger guests. Most rooms and suites can be connected on request, and children staying in The Penthouse are offered a pastry masterclass in the Claridge’s kitchens.
