Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor holds one of the island’s most storied positions: a sheltered bay on Cap de Formentor, Mallorca’s northernmost peninsula, where a long, low white building in a modernist spirit sits between a pine-shaded beach and wooded hills. The resort lies on a 486-hectare private estate within the Serra de Tramuntana UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its terraces, stone stairways and gardens have been replanted with native species and aromatic plants.

Every room and suite faces the front of the building and opens onto a terrace, several with a plunge pool. Days revolve around the kilometre-long Formentor Beach, three pools, an intimate spa, a tennis court and the estate’s own vineyard, whose organic wines carry the Vi de la Terra de Mallorca designation. Five restaurants and bars plus an ice-cream parlour range from Mallorcan cooking to Nikkei, and a ballroom and two function rooms open onto garden terraces.

Location

The resort sits directly on Formentor Beach, on the Formentor peninsula near Port de Pollença at Mallorca’s northern tip. Palma and Palma de Mallorca Airport are each about 60 minutes away by car (76 km to the airport). The concierge arranges limousine transfers and car hire, and guests can also arrive by sea on a private boat from Port de Pollença. In high season daytime car access to the peninsula is restricted, so the hotel registers guests’ number plates in advance; there is on-site parking.

Spa

The Spa at Four Seasons takes its cues from seawater, sun-warmed stone, pine and coastal sand. Two treatment rooms are set up for side-by-side rituals, and the wet area has a steam room, sauna, cold plunge, ice fountain and vitality pool (ages 12 and over). Treatments include the La Llum facials by Biologique Recherche, the Energy of the Tramuntana massages, the Among Pines & Rocks body rituals and Endospheres Therapy with Biologique Recherche and Sepai boosters.

Sports & leisure

A 24-hour Technogym fitness centre and an outdoor yoga area are open to guests aged 16 and over, with yoga, Pilates, meditation, mindful pine-forest walks and personal training on offer. There is a tennis court with a resident coach, and golf is played at Alcanada Golf Club, a seaside course. Hiking and cycling routes cross the estate and the cape; the hotel also arranges horse riding, off-road expeditions, yacht and sailing trips to coves reachable only by sea, dolphin watching, diving, private walking tours of Palma, painting among the vines, paella classes and wine tastings.

For children

The complimentary Kids For All Seasons club for ages 4–12 runs daily with games, crafts, treasure hunts and beach activities. Teenagers aged 13–17 have their own Youth For All Seasons centre with gaming consoles, board games and a programme of activities. The family pool has a children’s area, and cots and babysitting through a trusted external provider (booked in advance) are available on request.

Restaurants & bars

Five restaurants and bars, an ice-cream parlour, private dining and 24-hour in-room dining:

  • Mel — farm-to-table Mediterranean cooking from breakfast to late evening, indoors and outdoors
  • Shima — Nikkei cuisine blending Japan and Peru, with a sea-view terrace
  • Llum i Sal — beach restaurant on Formentor Beach: seafood and seasonal island produce
  • Quiosc — pool restaurant and bar for drinks and light bites
  • Cercle — circular lobby bar with sea views, wines, signature cocktails, snacks and live music on several evenings a week
  • Crocant — artisan ice-cream parlour

Private dinners can be set in the courtyard of the estate’s Mallorcan finca among the vines, in the gardens or under the stars with an open-air film.

Swimming

A grand staircase leads down to Formentor Beach, a kilometre of golden, Blue Flag sand shaded by pines, with a serviced sunbed area for guests and a private boat dock. Non-motorised water sports — snorkelling, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and sailing — are available for a fee. Back on land there is a sea-view family pool with a children’s area beside three century-old olive trees, an adults-only pool in the gardens and the spa’s vitality pool; private poolside cabanas take up to four people.

Pets

Pets weighing up to 11.5 kg are allowed in the room; further conditions should be confirmed with the resort.
