One&Only Portonovi

About this hotel

General information

One&Only Portonovi sits at the mouth of the Bay of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, beside the Portonovi yacht marina. Jean-Michel Gathy designed the resort as a palatial composition with Venetian references, softened by Montenegrin craftsmanship, open fireplaces and a muted palette drawn from the surrounding mountains and water.

Rooms, suites and villas look over the bay, the gardens or the mountains, with interiors that open straight onto terraces. The resort holds a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating and EarthCheck Gold certification, and is best known for its Chenot Espace longevity centre, the waterside TAPASAKE club and a sandy beach on the bay.

Location

The resort lies in the municipality of Herceg Novi on the shore of the Bay of Kotor, around an hour's drive from Dubrovnik. The closest airports are Tivat (about 22 km) and Dubrovnik (about 30 km), with Podgorica (about 105 km), Split and Tirana as further options. Transfers are arranged by car or by boat from the region's airports and marinas.

Spa

Chenot Espace follows the Chenot Method, built on fifty years of research: detox and longevity programmes are tailored after diagnostics and carried out under medical supervision. The disciplines include medical screening, performance assessment with cryotherapy, hydrotherapy with essential oils and hydro-massage, facial and body care, hammam rituals, Himalayan salt baths and acupuncture. Facilities cover a pool and wet area, a 24-hour gym and a barber and beauty salon, while the Chenot Diet complements the treatment programmes.

Sports & leisure
  • days aboard the yacht Riana across the bay and the open sea, boat trips to Perast and Kotor, and an excursion that pairs a cruise with the Kotor cable car
  • beach sports including volleyball, kayaking and windsurfing
  • Tipsarević Luxury Tennis, with coaching for every level
  • guided outings to Mount Orjen, Lovćen and Cetinje, the national parks of the north, old Herceg Novi and a day in Dubrovnik
  • cookery and mixology sessions led by the resort's chefs and bartenders
For children

The KidsOnly club takes its theme from Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, with treasure hunts, raft building, film nights, music, painting and outdoor play. Families can join shared activities from watersports to beach competitions, and babysitting is available for children from six months with 24 hours' notice.

Restaurants & bars

Four venues, all with views of the bay, make up the dining offer:

  • TAPASAKE — Mediterranean-Japanese cooking by the water, with sushi, tempura and hot-stone meats, plus an adults-only pool club
  • Sabia — classic Italian dishes and artisanal pizzas on a sunset terrace
  • La Veranda — a Montenegrin steakhouse cooking meat and seafood over coals, with buffet and à la carte service
  • Caminetti — a fireside lounge and bar for coffee, afternoon tea, cocktails and small plates

Private dinners can be set up anywhere on the resort, the beach included, and in-room dining is available.

Swimming

The resort has its own sandy beach on the bay, used for swimming and watersports. TAPASAKE has an adults-only pool, Chenot Espace has a further pool, the villas have private hydrotherapy pools, and the private villa rentals come with their own beach and jetty.

Pets

Dogs of up to 12 kg are welcome in designated outdoor areas and must stay on a lead or in a crate. They are not allowed in indoor public spaces, restaurants, the spa or pool areas; certified service dogs are exempt.
