About this hotel
General information
Schlössle Hotel is a five-star, 23-room boutique hotel in the heart of Tallinn's Old Town and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. It occupies a cluster of medieval merchants' warehouses and houses on cobbled Pühavaimu Street, once the route along which goods travelled from the market square to the harbour. A monumental round-arched Gothic portal leads into the inner courtyard, and the building itself pairs sturdy medieval walls with later Baroque windows and vaulting.
Inside, the old fabric has been kept in view: a central chimney, cut-stone portals, narrow spiral staircases, rooms with uneven corners and wall niches, heavy timber beams and acanthus-leaf paintings on the ceilings. The lobby, with its fireplace, murals and antique pieces, feels like a prosperous merchant's drawing room. The pace is private and unhurried, with the Stenhus restaurant in the vaulted cellars, a cigar room, a private sauna and a summer garden in the courtyard. There is no lift; every floor is reached by stairs.
Location
The hotel stands at Pühavaimu 13/15 in Tallinn's Old Town, close to the Church of the Holy Spirit and about 100 m from Town Hall Square. The railway station is roughly 1.5 km away, the passenger harbour 2 km and Tallinn Airport 5 km. Airport transfers are arranged in an electric Mercedes-Benz EQS.
Spa
A private sauna in the cellar follows the traditional Estonian style, with a relaxation area, towels, bathrobes and bottled water; it is included for overnight guests, and snacks and drinks can be ordered from a dedicated menu. Visiting therapists offer treatments on request: classic and deep-tissue massages, facial massage, Shiatsu or Thai-style foot massage, a sea-salt body scrub, a black-pepper body ritual, hot-stone therapy and Sothys facials. In the colder months an outdoor Arctic Spa hot tub is available in the courtyard.
Sports & leisure
There is no gym, and the best way to spend free time is on foot: within minutes of the door are Town Hall Square and the Town Hall, St Olaf's Church, Pikk Street, St Catherine's Passage, the city walls and towers, and Toompea Hill with the Kohtuotsa and Patkuli viewing platforms. Afterwards, the sauna and the open-air hot tub in the courtyard are the places to warm up. The courtyard also has an electric-vehicle charging point, and the historic rooms and summer garden host meetings, private celebrations and weddings.
For children
Every child receives a gift from the hotel, and children up to 10 get welcome treats, their own bath products and a teddy-bear turndown. Board games can be borrowed from reception.
Restaurants & bars
Dining is centred on the historic cellars and the inner courtyard; breakfast is a buffet served with a glass of Prosecco, and room service runs around the clock.
- Stenhus Restaurant — a vaulted cellar restaurant with a log fire, serving modern Nordic cooking built on produce from small Estonian farms, fishermen and producers; a lunch menu by day, à la carte and a tasting menu in the evening.
- Cigar Lounge — a snug room within massive stone walls, with the hotel's own selection of cigars and cognacs.
- Summer Garden — Stenhus's summer terrace in the leafy courtyard among the old walls, open in season, with live music on some evenings.
Pets
Pets are welcome for an additional fee.
