About this hotel
General information
The hotel spreads across landscaped gardens on the bank of the Zambezi inside Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, a few minutes' walk from Victoria Falls. Nothing separates the grounds from the wild: zebra, giraffe and impala graze between the trees, vervet monkeys move through the branches and hammocks hang along the river. Views of the Zambezi, the gardens and the savannah open from the verandas, the pool terrace, the restaurants and the spa pavilions.
Interiors combine indigenous design accents with modern comforts, and every room comes with its own butler. Part of the Anantara portfolio, the hotel also works with local community projects: it supports a school in Livingstone, to which guests can bring school supplies, and serves honey from a women's beekeeping cooperative in a nearby village.
Location
On Mosi-oa-Tunya Road, on the Zambezi riverbank within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Guests have direct access to Victoria Falls daily from 6 am to 6 pm, about five minutes away on foot. Central Livingstone is 10.4 km (around 14 minutes by car); Livingstone's international airport is roughly 15 minutes' drive through the park, and Victoria Falls airport in Zimbabwe is 30–40 minutes, including the border crossing. The hotel arranges airport shuttles, private chauffeured transfers with help at the border, and arrival by water taxi along the river.
Spa
Anantara Spa sits right on the Zambezi: three treatment gazebos face the river and the sunset, alongside a riverside relaxation lounge with light dishes on request and a health bar serving fresh fruit and herbal teas. The menu covers African therapies using TheraVine products, classic Western massages, Ayurveda programmes with resident practitioners, advanced skin treatments, facials, manicures and pedicures. Massages can also be booked by the pool or in the room.
Sports & leisure
The hotel arranges a wide range of activities in the park, on the river and in the air above the falls:
- walks to Victoria Falls and down a stepped path along the gorge
- guided game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park for white rhino, buffalo, elephant and antelope
- sunset cruises along the park's riverbank and river safaris for hippo, Nile crocodile and birdlife
- canoeing among the islands of the upper Zambezi, horse riding in the park and birdwatching (around 470 species recorded in the area)
- seasonal trips to Livingstone Island with a swim in Devil's Pool, a natural pool on the lip of the falls (up to 16 guests at a time, depending on water levels)
- helicopter and microlight flights over the falls, and a helicopter picnic on a white-sand beach at the bottom of the gorge
- white-water rafting on the Zambezi rapids and a 111 m bungee jump from the bridge
- an evening steam-train journey to the bridge by the falls with a five-course dinner, riverside picnics and wine tastings
- a gym with exercise bikes, treadmills and free weights, and a running trail through the grounds
For children
The Kids & Teens Club runs arts and crafts, outdoor discovery and an indoor playroom stocked with toys and games. There is a dedicated children's menu, and certified babysitters can be booked up to 24 hours in advance.
