General information
Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has welcomed guests since 1901 and remains the city’s grande dame: a historic landmark in the French Quarter of Hoàn Kiếm, a few steps from the Opera House. It was the first hotel anywhere to carry the Sofitel Legend name, and its character rests on French refinement paired with Vietnamese hospitality.
The 358 rooms and suites are split between two wings. The historic Heritage Wing keeps its original wooden staircase and banisters rising from the lobby, with interiors that draw on 1920s France, colonial Indochina and Vietnamese craft, while the newer Opera Wing is neo-classical in style. Between them lies a quiet inner garden with a heated pool, framed by the restaurants and bars, Le Spa du Metropole, the gym and the L’Epicerie and La Boutique shops.
Location
The hotel sits in the heart of Hanoi, in the French Quarter of Hoàn Kiếm, steps from the Hanoi Opera House and close to the Old Quarter and Hoàn Kiếm Lake. Noi Bai International Airport is about 45 minutes away; transfers can be arranged in advance with the hotel’s own chauffeur-driven limousine service. Ha Long Bay and Sa Pa are both within easy reach.
Spa
Le Spa du Metropole covers 400 m² overlooking the garden courtyard and pool. It has two themed couples’ suites, six individually designed treatment suites, a manicure and pedicure corner and a wet area with a steam bath. Treatments combine age-old Eastern beauty rituals with contemporary Western therapies, using Sothys and Anne Semonin products, with scents inspired by traditional Vietnamese fragrances. The spa is open daily from 10am to 10pm.
Sports & leisure
Metropole Fitness sits in the inner garden, is reserved for hotel guests and opens daily from 5am to 10pm, with direct access to the pool. It is equipped with Life Fitness cardio machines, each with its own screen, plus free weights, and personal training is available. The heated pool, with cocktails from Bamboo Bar, is the place to unwind, and the hotel’s limousine service handles trips around the city.

Six restaurants and bars share the hotel, and 24-hour in-room dining offers French, Vietnamese and European menus.

Swimming
The heated outdoor pool lies at the centre of the hotel within the inner garden, a calm retreat from the city’s bustle. Bamboo Bar stands beside it, and the gym opens directly onto the pool deck.

358 rooms and suites: 103 in the historic Heritage Wing, styled after 1920s France and colonial Indochina with Vietnamese accents, and 255 in the neo-classical Opera Wing, whose club floors have their own Club Lounge. Legendary Suite – Second Floor
One of three Legendary suites, on the second floor of the Heritage Wing: king bedroom, walk-in closet and a living room with dining table and a balcony over a city park. For up to 4 guests, with an adjoining connecting room and Metropole privileges.
Legendary Suite – Third Floor
A Legendary suite on the Heritage Wing’s third floor with a separate living room, desk and dining table, walk-in closet and a park-view balcony. King bed, for up to 4 guests, with Metropole privileges.
Legendary Suite – Garden
A first-floor Legendary suite in the Heritage Wing with its own private garden facing the quiet inner courtyard and a living-room balcony overlooking the park. King bed, walk-in closet, for up to 4 guests, with Metropole privileges.
Premium Room – Queen
A bright, open-plan Opera Wing room with high ceilings, timber floors, French windows and neo-classical décor in white, black and red. Queen bed, shower-bath, for up to 2 guests.
Premium Room – Twin
An Opera Wing room with two single beds, French windows and a shower-bath. For up to 2 guests; courtyard view.
Grand Premium Room – King
A room on the Opera Wing club floors with a king bed, French-style bathtub and separate shower. For up to 3 guests, with Club Lounge access for breakfast, high tea and evening cocktails.
