Six Senses Con Dao

About this hotel

General information

Six Senses Con Dao lies on a long sandy beach on Con Son, the main island of the Con Dao archipelago, inside land and sea protected as a national and marine park; the island is also a designated marine Ramsar site. Jungle-covered hills rise behind the resort, and in front of it a clear blue sea runs out over coral reefs.

The architecture is contemporary yet takes its cue from a traditional fishing village: the 50 villas are built from reclaimed teak and other sustainable materials, each with its own pool and only a few steps from the water, and they are designed for natural ventilation to reduce the need for air conditioning. The resort is known for its work with sea turtles — together with the national park authorities it restored the beach for nesting and set up a protected incubation enclosure.

Location

The resort sits on Dat Doc Beach on Con Son island. Con Dao Airport is a 45-minute flight from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City or around 130 minutes from Hanoi, followed by a 10-minute drive. Shared minivan transfers between the airport and the resort are complimentary on request, and private transfers can be arranged at extra cost; high-speed boats from Ho Chi Minh City or Can Tho also reach the island in 2.5–4 hours.

Spa

Six Senses Spa covers 15,000 m² across nine overwater pavilions. It has eight treatment rooms, including two VIP couple suites with a bubble pool, Finnish and infrared saunas, a steam room with ice-bucket showers, an Alchemy Bar, a biohacking recovery lounge, manicure and pedicure, a yoga pavilion, a meditation sala and indoor and outdoor relaxation lounges; it is open daily from 9:00 to 21:00. A wellness screening of key biomarkers shapes personal programmes for sleep, detox, yoga or Ayurvedic rejuvenation. Signature treatments include a Vietnamese touch therapy with cupping and meridian work, a radiance facial with Dien Chan facial reflexology and a hot bamboo massage.

Sports & leisure

Days can be as quiet or as active as guests choose:

  • a fitness centre and yoga pavilion
  • kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and body boarding, complimentary daily from 8:00 to 18:00
  • snorkelling and diving off the untouched islands of the national park, home to more than 1,400 recorded marine species and 340 types of coral; visibility is best from February to July
  • boat trips and private charters, including sunset cruises
  • hiking and trekking on the island, and a trek to the lighthouse on a neighbouring island
  • an early morning aboard a traditional local fishing boat
  • bicycles and guided rides to the island's main town and market
  • turtle hatchling releases — green turtles nest on the resort's beach from May to October
  • plant-to-plate cooking classes in the organic garden, open-air jungle cinema and Feed the Fish golf, where the balls are fish food
For children

The Sense of Laughter kids' club is complimentary for children aged 4–12. Its Grow With Six Senses programme includes crafts, T-shirt and sand painting, sandcastle building, beach football, pizza making, cookie decorating and jungle movie nights; some activities carry a charge. Babysitting is available from 9:00 to 1:00 at an extra cost.

Restaurants & bars

Dining moves between authentic Vietnamese cooking and contemporary international dishes, with herbs and vegetables from the resort's own organic garden.

  • By The Beach — contemporary international cuisine with sea views; breakfast buffets include a Vietnamese street-food section
  • Vietnamese By The Market — traditional Vietnamese home cooking by a Con Dao-born cook, plus daily specials
  • Elephant Bar — light dishes through the day and an East-meets-West cocktail list guided by star signs, served on leather swings
  • Splash Bar — by the main pool overlooking the beach, for daytime cocktails, sundowners and light snacks
  • Deli.ght — complimentary homemade ice cream and sorbets
  • By the Cellar — the wine cellar, with a large communal table for private dinners and wine pairings
  • By the Kitchen — a chef's table beside the main kitchen
  • Destination Dining — a villa barbecue, a picnic on a secluded beach or a meal anywhere on the resort, alongside in-villa dining
