Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai occupies a kilometre-long stretch of Ha My Beach on Vietnam’s central coast, a short drive from Hoi An. It is an all-villa resort: one hundred standalone houses set across gardens planted with some 4,500 palms. The architecture takes its cue from the garden homes of central Vietnam – heavy timber frames, carved panels rising to pitched roofs of flat tiles, and at the heart of each bedroom a raised sleeping platform veiled in sheer netting that glows like a lantern. The layout follows the principles of Vietnamese feng shui.

Three pools cascade from the centre of the resort towards the sea, the Heart of the Earth Spa sits over a lotus lagoon, and the restaurants span Japanese omakase, Indian cooking and contemporary Vietnamese food. The resort is also known for its cooking academy, supplied by its own kitchen garden, and for more than fifteen complimentary cultural activities, from lantern making to Vietnamese coffee tastings. Three UNESCO World Heritage sites are within easy reach: Hoi An’s old town, the Imperial City of Hue and the My Son Sanctuary.

Location

The resort sits directly on Ha My Beach, within the city of Da Nang and between Hoi An and central Da Nang. Hoi An’s old town on the Thu Bon River is about 10 km away, roughly 15 minutes by car, and a complimentary resort shuttle runs there three times a day. Da Nang International Airport is 30 km away, a 30–40-minute drive; the concierge arranges transfers with a meet-and-greet, and they are complimentary for Pool Villa guests. Tra Que vegetable village and the fishing town of Phuoc Hai are close by, and the concierge organises day trips to Hue, My Son, the Marble Mountains and the Son Tra peninsula.

Spa

The Heart of the Earth Spa is set in tropical gardens beside a quiet lotus lagoon, with eight treatment pavilions that seem to float on the water, a meditation pavilion and relaxation areas. Treatments draw on Vietnamese healing traditions and are grouped into grounding, energising and harmonising rituals; the signature Nam Hai Earth Song uses eight crystal singing bowls. The menu covers massages, facials, scrubs and wraps, and bathing ceremonies in a private lotus-pond bath or in the villa, while the resident naturopath designs personal wellness programmes of one day or several. Every evening the spa holds its singing-bowl ritual, A Goodnight Kiss to the Earth, and visiting practitioners come throughout the year. The spa is open from 9 am to 9 pm.

Sports & leisure

The 24-hour Health Club has cardio and strength equipment, free weights, a steam room and a sauna, with a personal trainer on request; a separate Stretch Room hosts private Pilates, Muay Thai, FitLean and weight-training sessions. Next door are three tennis courts, two pickleball courts, a padel court, a floodlit badminton court and a half-size basketball court, with rackets and balls provided free and lessons or a hitting partner available. Yoga (aerial yoga included), meditation and sound sessions run alongside complimentary non-motorised water sports – kayaks, bodyboards, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboards – and catamaran outings. Bicycles wait outside every villa. The cooking academy teaches Vietnamese dishes using produce from the resort’s garden, with chef-led trips to local markets. Excursions include Hoi An’s old town, the citadel and tombs of Hue, My Son, a sunset river cruise and a fishing village with basket boats. Two championship golf courses lie 10 minutes away.

For children

The Chuon Chuon (Dragonfly) Kids’ Club runs the complimentary Kids For All Seasons programme for children aged 4–12, daily from 9 am to 5 pm: indoor and outdoor play areas, its own pool and garden, a kids-only splash zone, and a rotating schedule of crafts, outings and traditional Vietnamese games. Young cooks can take a one-hour class at the cooking academy, the Young Guardians of the Earth programme covers gardening and composting, and marine specialists at the Discovery Centre introduce the life of the coast. The spa offers treatments for children aged 6–12 and teenagers aged 12–16. There is a children’s menu, beach toys and lantern-making classes, and babysitting can be arranged with advance notice.

Restaurants & bars

Three restaurants and two bars take in Japan, India and the cooking of Vietnam.

  • NAYUU — Japanese omakase at a 16-seat counter with two seatings a night, built on Japanese Wagyu and seafood from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market
  • Café Nam Hai — Indian dinners drawing on the regional cooking of Hyderabad, Goa, Amritsar and Kashmir, with a tandoori night on Tuesdays; breakfast buffet of Vietnamese and international dishes, plus a garden terrace
  • Lá Sen — contemporary Vietnamese cooking with seasonal produce, lunch and dinner indoors or on the beachside terrace
  • Sol & Sao — coffee and gelato by day, sherry cocktails and Vietnamese tapas by night; home to the country’s largest sherry collection, with regular complimentary tastings
  • Pool & Beach — light bites and drinks by the pools and on the sand

In-villa dining runs around the clock, from floating breakfasts in the pool to barbecues cooked by a private chef on the terrace.

Swimming

The resort opens directly onto Ha My Beach, a quiet stretch of sand about a kilometre long, with complimentary loungers, umbrellas and beach service, plus beach daybeds. Three infinity pools step down towards the sea: an adults-only lap pool, an Olympic-size pool and a heated family pool, with poolside cabanas. Every Pool Villa has its own infinity pool, which can be heated from December to March.

Rooms

The 100 villas fall into three groups: one-bedroom and family villas (87–108 m²), one- and two-bedroom Pool Villas (250–400 m²) and Specialty Villas of three to five bedrooms (520–660 m²).
