Capella Hanoi

About this hotel

General information

Capella Hanoi is a small hotel conceived as a stage set, its theme the opera of the Roaring Twenties. Art nouveau and art deco meet Vietnamese detail throughout: hand-painted murals, stage costumes and memorabilia honour opera’s composers, designers and performers, and the great operatic stories lend their names and motifs to the finest suites.

There are 47 rooms and suites, each styled differently. Service sets the tone: Capella Culturists shape a programme for discovering Hanoi, while The Living Room, open around the clock with books, light refreshments, an evening cocktail hour and live jazz, is the hotel’s social heart. Daily morning and evening rituals and curated programmes run throughout the stay, and the Regale wellness floor below ground gathers the spa, pool and gym.

Location

The hotel sits on a quiet street in Hoàn Kiếm, in the heart of Hanoi, a few steps from the Hanoi Opera House. Hoàn Kiếm Lake and the Old Quarter are close by, putting most of the historic centre within walking distance.

Spa

Auriga Spa is part of the Regale wellness complex on the lower level. Its approach follows the rhythms of nature and the lunar cycle, pairing traditional Vietnamese techniques with modern thinking on wellbeing and natural products. Two couple’s treatment suites are decorated in a Vietnamese imperial style, and a sauna, steam room and cold plunge – each adjustable in temperature and best booked ahead – complete the circuit. The spa is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00.

Sports & leisure

The Technogym-equipped fitness centre is open 24 hours, with staff on hand from 07:00 to 22:00, and stocks water, energy snacks, headphones and essential oils. La Grotta, the indoor pool, comes with a sauna, steam room and cold plunge. Capella Culturists open up the city – from the best phở in town to time with local artisans learning Vietnamese crafts – and plan a daily schedule of events in The Living Room.

Restaurants & bars

Several restaurants and bars share the building, and in-room dining is available around the clock:

  • Backstage — all-day restaurant serving modern Northern Vietnamese cooking built on local seasonal produce, set among murals and opera costumes
  • Diva’s Lounge — cocktail salon at the centre of the hotel, with signature cocktails and punches, pastries, Vietnamese-inspired small plates, afternoon tea and a terrace onto the neighbourhood
  • The Hudson Rooms — rooftop bar and restaurant in the spirit of 1920s New York: a marble oyster bar, caviar, seafood and a list of around 200 whiskies
  • Koki — Japanese house of dining: the Hibana by Koki teppanyaki counter, Izakaya by Koki for sashimi, sushi and grills, the Chidori Sushi Room and Akio sake bar
  • Track 61 — invitation-only hidden bar for rare whiskies and cigars
Swimming

La Grotta, the heated indoor pool within Regale, is styled as a grotto where opera singers might rest their voices; its water treatment is designed to be gentle on skin and hair. It is open daily from 07:00 to 22:00.
