About this hotel
General information
One of New York’s most celebrated hotels opened in 1904 at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 55th Street, and the building was declared a New York City Landmark in 1988. Its façade — curving lines, bay windows, decorative arches and a graceful roofline — remains a fine example of early 20th-century architecture, and inside are crystal chandeliers, tapestries, vases and columns. Heads of state and famous names from Salvador Dalí to Babe Paley and Marilyn Monroe have stayed here, and the hotel holds the AAA Five Diamond award and a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating.
The King Cole Bar is famed for Maxfield Parrish’s Art Nouveau mural Old King Cole; the neighbouring Astor Court, named after the hotel’s founder John Jacob Astor IV, has become The Drawing Room lounge, and breakfast and tea are served in the airy La Maisonette. Nearby are the Museum of Modern Art, Carnegie Hall, Tiffany & Co. and Bloomingdale’s, the Broadway theatres, Central Park and Rockefeller Center. There are 16 event spaces totalling 1,252 m², among them The St. Regis Roof ballroom on the top floor, along with a business centre and dedicated honeymoon programmes.
Location
The hotel stands in central Manhattan at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 55th Street, close to Central Park, Rockefeller Center and the Empire State Building.
Sports & leisure
The 24-hour St. Regis Athletic Club is complimentary for hotel guests. Personal trainers and yoga or Pilates instructors can be booked through the concierge, for sessions in the club or in the privacy of a room or suite.
For children
The Family Traditions programme welcomes younger guests with treats, child-sized robes and slippers and a step stool, plus a turndown ritual of their own. La Maisonette and in-room dining offer dishes for children, cribs and nappies are provided on request, and the concierge can arrange a babysitter.
Restaurants & bars
Dining revolves around three venues:
- King Cole Bar — the legendary cocktail bar beneath Maxfield Parrish’s mural, home of the signature Red Snapper, with light bites
- The Drawing Room — a lounge in the former Astor Court, with velvet sofas, sharing plates and larger dishes
- La Maisonette — a bright, pavilion-like room inspired by the hotel’s original 1910s breakfast room, for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea
In-room dining is available around the clock.
Pets
Pets are not permitted, with the exception of service animals.
