The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

About this hotel

General information

The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown is an intimate 86-room hotel in historic Georgetown, set in a former industrial building of 1932 whose 40-metre brick smokestack still marks the neighbourhood skyline. Exposed brick, fireplaces and garden courtyards sit alongside contemporary, residential-feeling interiors, and the rooms look out over the streets of Georgetown or the Potomac River.

Everything for an unhurried city stay sits under one roof: a reimagined spa with ESPA products, saunas and steam rooms, a 24-hour fitness centre, Degrees Bistro and The Living Room, a cocktail bar with a wood-burning fireplace. Six event rooms cover 816 m², among them the brick-walled Fahrenheit Ballroom with windows onto the Potomac, a venue at the foot of the smokestack and The Yard, a garden on three tiers; weddings are arranged too. It is a convenient base for the capital’s principal sights.

Location

The hotel is in Georgetown, a few steps from M Street and Wisconsin Avenue and close to the Potomac, the C&O Canal and Georgetown University. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is 7.6 km away, Dulles International 40 km and Baltimore/Washington International 54 km; transfers can be arranged by private car or limousine.

Spa

The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Georgetown is an intimate, fully reimagined spa with five treatment rooms, one of them for couples, and separate men’s and women’s lounges with saunas and steam rooms. The menu covers massages, hot stone among them, scrubs and wraps, ESPA facials, Hydrafacial and the classic Yon-Ka facial, eye, lip, scalp and hair treatments, men’s services and waxing.

Sports & leisure

The 24-hour fitness centre has Technogym cardio and strength equipment, Peloton bikes and a PENT wall bar. For getting around, the hotel lends Ritz-Carlton Cruisers, city bikes that reach Georgetown University, the National Mall and the Smithsonian museums with ease. The Capital Crescent Trail starts close by, and kayaks, canoes and paddleboards can be hired beneath Key Bridge.

For children

Ritz Kids begins with a check-in of their own and a welcome pack with an activity folder, and a red wagon of soft toys waits in the lobby for each child to choose one to take home. The restaurants have colouring books and the Ritz Kids healthy menu, and a personalised treat appears in the room at turndown.

Restaurants & bars

Degrees Bistro serves American dishes and hand-crafted cocktails at breakfast, lunch and dinner, with brunch on Sundays. The Living Room is a cocktail bar of exposed brick, a wood-burning fireplace and deep lounge seating, where mixologists work with local ingredients alongside small plates, and Baked Alaska is served every evening. In-room dining is available.

Pets

One dog or cat of up to 11 kg is welcome per room.
