General information
The Peninsula New York occupies a 1905 landmark on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 55th Street, in the very heart of Midtown. New York’s Bill Rooney Studio has refreshed its interiors with the elegance of 1920s Manhattan in mind: the 219 rooms and suites feel like private city apartments, and the venues include the Clement restaurant, Clement Bar, the Gotham Lounge piano bar and the Pen Top rooftop lounge.
The Forbes Five-Star Peninsula Spa occupies the 21st floor, with a glass-enclosed pool and fitness centre on the 22nd, while the Peninsula Academy runs cultural programmes and city tours. Five function rooms totalling 1,006 m² host business and private events, including weddings and honeymoon programmes. Services include a concierge, a business centre, laundry and dry cleaning, and a limousine service that extends to the hotel’s own MINI Cooper S Clubman and BMW cars.
Location
The hotel stands at Fifth Avenue and 55th Street in Midtown Manhattan, a few minutes’ walk from Central Park, Rockefeller Center and Broadway. LaGuardia Airport is 15 km away, Newark 25 km and JFK 28 km.
Spa
The Peninsula Spa on the 21st floor has 11 treatment rooms, among them a spacious Private Spa Suite for couples with its own steam shower and double whirlpool bath, plus separate men’s and women’s relaxation lounges and a tea lounge serving organic teas. The heat experiences, also separate for men and women, include an aromatherapy steam room, a sauna, experience showers and an ice fountain. Facials and body treatments use Biologique Recherche, MBR and Subtle Energies, alongside a range of CBD body treatments, and the Vu Hair salon handles hair and make-up.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre on the 22nd floor is open around the clock, with Technogym equipment, a sunlit studio, daily group classes and personal trainers who design individual programmes. The glass-enclosed pool is on the same floor. The Peninsula Academy adds cultural programmes and food and walking tours of the city.
For children
Younger guests are welcomed with dedicated children’s amenities and entertainment, and the spacious rooms and connecting suites suit families well.
Restaurants & bars
One restaurant, three bars and in-room dining:
- Clement — contemporary American cuisine built on local produce, with breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch
- Clement Bar — handcrafted cocktails and seasonal evenings beside the restaurant
- Gotham Lounge — an intimate piano bar off the lobby, with live music several evenings a week and a signature afternoon tea
- Pen Top — a rooftop lounge under a retractable louvred roof, with classic cocktails, light bites and city views
Swimming
The glass-enclosed pool on the 22nd floor is framed by floor-to-ceiling teak columns set against black tiles, and poolside dining offers dishes from the Naturally Peninsula menu. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Pets
One dog or cat of up to 29 kg (65 lb) is welcome per room for an additional fee, with a pet bed and bowls waiting on arrival; dog walking and a dedicated dog menu can be arranged, though pets are not allowed in the restaurants, spa, fitness centre or function rooms.
Rooms
The 219 rooms and suites are styled as private Manhattan apartments, with a light palette, white-on-white jacquard textiles, new lighting and a curated selection of art and books, and every bathroom is finished in marble. Three Signature Suites — the Grand Suite, the Fifth Avenue Suite and The Peninsula Suite — overlook Fifth Avenue.
Rooms feature The Peninsula’s own in-room technology, with a tablet in six languages linked to a 24-hour digital concierge and bedside panels for lighting and temperature, along with TVs of up to 65 inches, complimentary high-speed internet, universal power outlets and Quagliotti linens, and most marble bathrooms have a television by the tub.
Superior Room
On floors 4–20 overlooking the inner courtyard, with a king-size bed, a multipurpose work table and a marble bathroom; for two adults, and it connects to a Superior Suite.
Deluxe Room
A king-size bed and a marble bathroom with a walk-in shower and a separate deep tub with television, facing the courtyard or 55th Street; sleeps up to three and connects to neighbouring rooms or a Junior Suite.
Grand Luxe Room
The largest guest room, with a king-size bed, oversized windows onto Fifth Avenue or 55th Street, a 65-inch TV and a marble bathroom with separate shower and tub; on floors 4–12, sleeps up to four.
Grand Luxe Double
The same layout with two queen beds, oversized windows onto Fifth Avenue or 55th Street and a marble bathroom with separate shower and tub; on floors 5–20, sleeps up to four.
Grand Premier Room
On floors 14–20, with a king-size bed, oversized windows onto Fifth Avenue or 55th Street, a 65-inch TV and a marble bathroom with separate shower and tub; for two.
Superior Suite
A quiet courtyard-facing suite on floors 4–12, with a separate king-size bedroom, an intimate living room with sofa bed and a marble bathroom with separate shower and tub; sleeps up to four and connects to a Superior Room.
Junior Suite
A corner studio suite on floors 4–12 with a king-size bed, a sitting area with sofa bed and views of Fifth Avenue or 55th Street; sleeps up to four and includes use of the hotel’s MINI Cooper S Clubman.
Premier Junior Suite
A corner studio suite on floors 14–20 with two oversized windows onto Fifth Avenue or 55th Street, a king-size bed, a sofa bed and a window in the bathroom; sleeps up to four, with the MINI Cooper S Clubman.
Connecting Grand Luxe Room
Two connecting rooms on floors 6–8 overlooking 55th Street, one with two queen beds and a marble bathroom with separate shower and tub, the other with a king-size bed; sleeps up to seven.
Two Bedroom Superior Suite

The Peninsula Suite
