JW Marriott Essex House New York rises beside Central Park and has welcomed guests since 1931. Refined Art Deco meets contemporary design throughout, and rooms look out over either the city or the green expanse of the park.
Bourbon Steak New York by chef Michael Mina, with its lounge and bar, occupies the lobby level, alongside an Executive Lounge, PRIMP Spa and a fitness centre. For business and celebrations there are 11 event rooms totalling 1,079 m², among them the Beaux Arts-inspired Grand Salon for up to 400 guests. Les Clefs d’Or concierges plan time in the city, and dedicated wedding programmes are offered.
Location
The hotel is in central Manhattan, close to Central Park, Broadway, Fifth Avenue and Carnegie Hall. LaGuardia Airport is 16 km away, Newark 27 km and JFK 30 km.
Spa
PRIMP Spa offers massages, facials and body treatments in a treatment room within the fitness centre, and the same menu can be brought to the room.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre is complimentary for guests. Every Saturday morning, City Running Tours guides lead a run through Central Park covering its history and architecture, and the concierge arranges guided park tours, picnics and Broadway tickets.
For children
Families can book connecting rooms set up with games and toys for children, and Central Park and the Central Park Zoo are just across the street.

Bourbon Steak New York by chef Michael Mina is a classic American steakhouse with global accents, serving beef and seafood from local purveyors alongside a strong wine and spirits list; the lounge serves lunch and late-night bites, and the bar overlooks Central Park South. There are private dining rooms, and in-room dining draws on the restaurant’s menu.

Meadow Terrace Suite
A suite inspired by the designer Elsie de Wolfe: one king-size bedroom and one with two doubles, two and a half bathrooms, a living room, dining for six and a kitchen. The terrace looks over Central Park’s Sheep Meadow and Columbus Circle; Executive Lounge access, sleeps up to six.
Delacorte Presidential
A suite honouring the publisher George T. Delacorte, in colours drawn from the park below: two king-size bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, a living room, a separate dining room with a table for eight and a kitchen. Sweeping Central Park views and Executive Lounge access; sleeps up to five.
Promenade Suite
A 38th-floor suite inspired by the park’s Literary Walk: two bedrooms, a spacious parlour, an open kitchen, dining for six and a Bang & Olufsen sound system, with panoramic Central Park views. Adjoining rooms extend it to three or four bedrooms.
