About this hotel
General information
Fairmont Kea Lani sits on the water’s edge beside a white-sand beach, surrounded by almost 9 hectares of tropical gardens. Every one of its 413 rooms is a suite, and 37 two-storey villas each have a private courtyard with a plunge pool. The Fairmont standard meets the character of Hawaii here: three large pools, several restaurants and bars, water sports and a Fairmont Spa built around local healing traditions.
Hawaiian culture has its own home in Hale Kukuna, an open-air cultural centre offering hula, ʻukulele and lei-making lessons. Events are served by the 780 m² Kea Lani Ballroom, which divides into five spaces, several smaller rooms and a series of outdoor venues, the largest being the oceanfront Polo Beach Lawn. The hotel arranges weddings and honeymoon programmes.
Location
The hotel lies on Maui’s south-west coast by Polo Beach in Wailea, 27 km from Kahului Airport.
Spa
Fairmont Spa has 13 treatment rooms and two open-air cabanas, one oceanfront and one poolside. The women’s area has a eucalyptus steam room, three experience showers and a Hawaiian clay bar with volcanic and lavender clays; the men’s area a dry sauna and two experience showers, with a nail salon and barber alongside. Treatments are shaped by the Hawaiian idea of mana, or life energy, and by local ingredients.
Sports & leisure
Three outdoor pools: the adults-only Tranquility Pool and two family pools linked by a 43-metre waterslide, the upper one with a whirlpool, plus private cabanas. The 24-hour fitness centre is open to guests aged 16 and over, with daily group classes. Snorkelling starts straight from Polo Beach, and a partner water-sports outfitter offers stand-up paddleboarding, sea kayaking, Hawaiian outrigger canoe trips and scuba certification. Hale Kukuna teaches hula, ʻukulele and lei making free of charge to in-house guests, and the concierge books golf.
For children
Families have the lower pool with its own children’s section and the 43-metre waterslide, children’s menus in the restaurants, a welcome gift for young guests and family workshops in the resort’s activity programme.
Restaurants & bars
The kitchens lean towards Hawaiian and Pacific Rim flavours and seafood.
- Kō — dishes from the cultures that met on Maui in the sugarcane era: Hawaiian, Filipino, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese and Chinese
- Pilina — bar and sushi lounge with island drinks and bites
- AMA Bar & Grill — grill restaurant for Pacific seafood, with a swim-up pool bar
- Kea Lani Restaurant — open-air breakfasts of island classics and fresh fruit
- Nick’s Fishmarket Maui — seafood and a cellar of more than 2,000 bottles
- MAKANA Market + Cafe — pastries, sandwiches, pizza and ice cream
In-suite and villa dining, poolside dining and private dining can also be arranged.
Swimming
The hotel faces the white sand of Polo Beach in Wailea, with snorkelling straight from the shore.
Pets
Well-behaved dogs of up to 9 kg that live in Hawaii are welcome; service dogs stay free of charge.
