About this hotel
General information
Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC occupies a quiet stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue at the gateway to upmarket Georgetown, wrapped in a manicured garden of tall trees, clipped shrubs and bright flowers. The neoclassical building has a restrained façade and two wings linked by a glass gallery with a conservatory. It is the capital’s only Five-Star, Five-Diamond hotel, long valued by business travellers and well-known names for the polished service of a staff that has stayed for years.
The lobby, by Pierre-Yves Rochon, is dressed in rich browns and neutrals, while corridors and rooms use white, pearl and taupe lifted by coral, peach and deep chocolate, with subtle motifs of the city’s cherry blossoms, the C&O Canal and the Potomac. Works by Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler and Fernando Botero hang in the lobby and throughout, and the perfumer House of Krigler has a boutique off the lobby. There are two restaurants and a lounge, a spa with a pool, a three-storey fitness club and 2,130 m² of event space, including the Corcoran Ballroom. Weddings are arranged here, and the concierge can organise a chauffeur, a limousine or car hire.
Location
The hotel is on Pennsylvania Avenue in Georgetown, Washington’s historic quarter. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is 11 km away, Washington Dulles 42 km and Baltimore/Washington International 48 km.
Spa
The spa offers massages, body scrubs and wraps, tailored facials, IV therapies and Mind Sync sessions, which combine sound and vibration on purpose-built vibroacoustic tables. A private contrast-therapy room pairs a cold plunge with an infrared sauna, and there is also a eucalyptus steam room, a sauna and a spa tub. In the evening, Night Spa brings an 80-minute massage, light fare and champagne with private use of the pool level, for two or for a group of four. A boutique hair salon and a spa shop complete the floor.
Sports & leisure
The three-storey, 1,114 m² fitness centre is open to hotel guests around the clock, with more than 30 cardio and strength machines by Precor, Hoist and Peloton, a movement studio with Lululemon mats, a yoga studio and an open-air patio. Beyond the gym:
- personal training, fitness classes, yoga, guided meditation and sound baths
- running trails along the C&O Canal, right by the hotel
- the Grand Cru Boat Tour and Monuments by Moonlight, a guided night tour of Washington’s memorials
- performances at the Kennedy Center, a 7-minute drive or 20-minute walk away
For children
Children receive a welcome gift, and families will find cots, high chairs and step stools, hooded baby towels, children’s robes and slippers, children’s toiletries, a bottle warmer and steriliser, nappies (swim nappies too), a baby bath and board games. In-room dining has a children’s menu, and the hotel can arrange babysitting, tickets and family itineraries planned around the children’s ages.
Restaurants & bars
Two restaurants and a lounge, plus 24-hour in-room dining:
- Bourbon Steak — a New American steakhouse from Michelin-recognised chef Michael Mina, with a private garden patio for lunch and dinner outdoors
- Bourbon Lounge — seasonal cocktails, a sommelier-led wine list, caviar dishes, Bourbon Steak favourites and desserts in the lounge, at the bar or on the patio
- Seasons — a sunlit room serving global classics with a lighter touch, known for its power breakfasts, polished lunches and weekend brunch
- afternoon tea — pastries, savoury bites and petits fours with a glass of fizz
Swimming
The pool has a level of its own below ground: a two-lane, temperature-controlled saline lap pool and a hot soaking tub beneath a skylight. It is open to hotel guests and fitness-club members.
Pets
One pet per room is welcome, dogs and cats alike, with no weight limit. On arrival there are house-made treats, a plush bed, bowls and a dedicated pet menu; outside the room pets stay on a lead or in a carrier and are never left alone. They are not allowed on the pool level or in the spa, fitness centre, restaurants or bar, and the concierge can help with dog walking, supplies and convenient housekeeping times.
