General information
Sheraton Colonia Golf & Spa Resort sits on the bank of the Río de la Plata in Real de San Carlos, a quiet district on the edge of Colonia del Sacramento. The neighbourhood grew up in the early 20th century as a place for leisure, and it still keeps its colonial-style buildings and tree-lined streets. Its own small golf course lies beside the buildings, and every room looks out either over the fairways or across the wide, calm river.
There are 105 spacious rooms and suites, finished in warm, modern materials. The pace is unhurried: golf and the spa by day, sunset over the river in the evening, and a children’s club at weekends. It works as well for a quiet stay for two as for a family trip or a business meeting, with meeting rooms and a business centre on site.
Location
The hotel lies in Real de San Carlos, about 6 km from the historic quarter of Colonia del Sacramento (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), with its museums, old lighthouse and 17th- and 18th-century streets. Montevideo’s international airport is roughly 177 km away; the hotel runs no shuttle, and Colonia’s bus terminal is nearby. Parking is free for guests.
Spa
Real Spa is open daily from 10am to 6pm by appointment, offering massages, facials and nail treatments. Afterwards there is the heated indoor pool and a whirlpool to unwind in.
Sports & leisure
The grounds hold a five-hole golf course with a driving range, a putting green and equipment rental. Sheraton Fitness is free for guests and has cardio machines, ellipticals, exercise bikes, stair climbers and strength equipment. Boats and other watercraft can be hired, and the museums, lighthouse and old streets of the historic quarter are a few minutes away by car.
For children
The complimentary Lagarto Overo Kids Club runs from Friday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm, with guided activities, indoor and outdoor games and plenty of arts and crafts.
Restaurants & bars
The resort has two restaurants and two bars, and room service is available.
- Restaurante Cava Real — international restaurant for a breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner, with an outdoor deck looking over the surroundings
- Food Truck — Uruguayan street food and American dishes in the open air, with river views and sunsets
- Palapa Pool Snack Bar — seasonal poolside bar open for lunch in summer, facing the sunset
- The Lobby Bar — bar overlooking the golf course, serving light snacks and sandwiches, among them the classic Uruguayan chivito, plus afternoon tea with the pastry chef’s desserts and canapés
Swimming
The hotel has a heated indoor pool (open daily from 8am to 10pm) and a whirlpool, and in the warm season an outdoor pool with a separate children’s pool; towels are provided. The Los Verdes swimming spot is about 100 m from the hotel.

All 105 rooms and suites look out over either the golf course or the Río de la Plata; the higher categories add balconies, separate living rooms and second bathrooms.
Every room has a pillowtop mattress and duvet, air conditioning, a sofa, a safe, a desk with an ergonomic chair, a mini fridge and minibar, complimentary bottled water, a bath with shower, a bidet, a hair dryer, satellite TV and Wi-Fi, and the hotel will shop for groceries and deliver them to the room free of charge.
