HAY boutique hotel & SPA

About this hotel

General information

HAY boutique hotel & SPA is an intimate 40-room hotel at the very heart of the Bukovel resort in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It was conceived to blur the line between guest and mountain: every room has a balcony or terrace and a shower room facing the peaks, and the façade is clothed in living greenery. The planting follows altitude, with grasses and trees of the foothills at street level, mid-mountain flora higher up and plants of the summits on the top floors.

Privacy, personal attention and an unhurried pace set the tone, with Carpathian folk motifs woven into thoroughly modern design. Local SPA occupies the roof, where a heated pool looks out over the mountains, and evenings gather around 88 Vinotheque and its cellar of more than 900 bottles. The hotel holds the international Green Key eco-label, managing water and energy with care, sorting waste and cutting back on plastic.

Location

The hotel stands in the village of Polianytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk Region, in the centre of the Bukovel ski resort (urochyshche Vyshni 515). Slopes, lifts and Carpathian trails lie all around. Guests arriving by car have a covered underground car park with round-the-clock video surveillance, and valet parking is available.

Spa

Local SPA is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00. On the roof are a heated infinity pool above the Carpathian panorama, a black Finnish sauna with mountain views, a Roman steam room scented with HAY’s natural aromas, the Kraksen herbal bath, where warm hay steam envelops the back and shoulders, a salt relaxation room and a herbal-tea bar serving Carpathian blends. The spa’s own collection of massage rituals spans sculpting and lymphatic drainage techniques, Eastern practices and manual and device-based facial treatments, alongside the Energy Boost, Anti-Stress and Cleanse spa programmes. Late in the evening the spa can be reserved for a single party, as Night SPA for a couple or a group of up to six.

Sports & leisure

Functional training and classes take place on the seventh floor with mountain views: morning and kundalini yoga, anti-stress yoga with breathing practice, yoga in the dark, meditation, japa and sound sessions. In the warm season the hotel arranges hikes up Bukovel mountain with certified instructors, treks of varying difficulty to the Chornohora ridge, Hoverla and Pip Ivan Marmaroskyi, off-road jeep trips via Mykulychyn to the high pastures with stops at Hutsul huts and cheese makers, and quad-bike rides along mountain switchbacks. For business, an 80 m² conference hall seats up to 60, with a projector, a large screen and panoramic mountain views.

Restaurants & bars

Two restaurants and a bar focus on original cooking and local produce.

  • 88 Daily — the daytime restaurant: à la carte breakfasts, then Galician and Bukovynian lunches built on Ukrainian cuisine with a light original twist
  • 88 Vinotheque — the evening restaurant, with original cooking and a cellar of more than 900 bottles from Ukraine and the Old and New Worlds; smart casual dress code
  • Lobby bar — signature cocktails made with fresh ingredients and no shop-bought syrups, fine spirits and a low-waste, low-plastic approach in a minimalist room of wood and ceramics
Swimming

The heated infinity pool sits on the roof within Local SPA, overlooking the Carpathian Mountains and is open to all hotel guests.

Skiing

In winter the hotel makes an easy base for skiing, set in the centre of the Bukovel resort close to its slopes and lifts.

Pets

Pets are welcome on prior request, against a refundable deposit; a bed and bowls are provided. In shared areas animals must be carried or kept on a lead, and they may not be left alone in the room. Experienced dog sitters can take a dog out while its owner relaxes.
