Edem Resort

About this hotel

General information

Edem Resort is a five-star country retreat near the village of Strilky in the Lviv Region, its palace-style buildings set between forest and the shore of the Lake of Youth. Over a hundred rooms share the grounds with a spa, a golf club, the resort's own vineyards, orchards, kitchen garden, apiary and stables, so the estate keeps an unhurried rhythm of its own, well away from the noise of the city.

Art is woven into the landscape. Arrival leads through an architectural sculpture park where classical pieces stand beside contemporary installations, and the hotel's interiors hold paintings, rarities and an antique Bösendorfer piano. The grounds are also home to PARK3020, a park of contemporary Ukrainian sculpture open to ticketed visits. Evenings settle in the library by the fireplace, stocked with books given by guests themselves, while weddings and family celebrations take place in the lakeside Grand Hall, which seats 250.

Location

The resort lies in the village of Strilky in the Lviv Region, 26 km from Lviv, in woodland on the shore of the Lake of Youth. Countryside quiet pairs easily with trips into Lviv's UNESCO-listed historic centre: Rynok Square, the City Hall, the Lviv National Opera and the old coffee houses known for Lviv coffee and chocolate.

Spa

The spa centres on a pool filled with spring water, alongside Roman and Finnish saunas, a steam bath, a hammam, a salt room, a hydromassage plunge pool, a circular Swiss shower, a Kneipp path and a herbal tea bar. Treatments include Ayurvedic rituals and aromatherapy, the Balinese lulur ritual, hot volcanic stone and oil massages, moisturising and peat wraps and sessions on a warm floating bed, with one-day spa programmes (some designed for couples) and three-day weekend programmes.

Deep in the resort's woodland, Edem Forest SPA is a private bathhouse reserved for one party at a time. It has a Slavic steam room with besoms, a hammam with stone loungers, a Finnish sauna, hay and salt rooms, a fireside lounge for tea and a spring-fed lake for a cold plunge just steps from the steam rooms. Guests can unwind on their own or with a bath master, who leads steaming rituals or a foam hammam.

Sports & leisure

Edem Golf Club has a 9-hole course, an academy course and a 5-hectare practice range; its golf school offers private lessons and beginners' master classes, and clubs, trolleys and electric carts are available to hire. The rest of the day can be filled with:

  • a gym and group workouts, aqua aerobics in the pool, yoga, power yoga and aerial yoga in hammocks
  • a tennis court and a mini-football pitch looking over the lake and forest
  • Nordic walking on forest paths and horse riding from the resort's own stables
  • a treetop rope park, pedal cars, quad bikes, boats, catamarans and stand-up paddleboards on the lake
  • walks through the sculpture park and PARK3020, and outings to Lviv's historic centre
Restaurants & bars

Four restaurants each strike a different note:

  • Panorama — light organic cooking from the resort's own gardens, personalised menus and panoramic windows onto the Lake of Youth
  • De Vine — a wine restaurant with a 354-label list and a cellar of more than 3,000 bottles from 22 countries, with dishes composed for tastings; the resort also has its own vineyard
  • Edem — a classic lakeside dining room for lunches, romantic dinners and small celebrations, with an elegant evening dress code
  • Terrace by the lake — a waterside terrace with a seasonal international menu that changes every four months, featuring fresh Mediterranean fish and seafood
Swimming

Guests have use of the beach on the shore of the Lake of Youth, with boats, catamarans and stand-up paddleboards on the water. In the spa there is a pool filled with spring water and a hydromassage plunge pool.
