About this hotel
General information
The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul rises above the city in the Dolmabahçe area, close to the Bosphorus shore, and its rooms, restaurants and rooftop terrace look out over the strait and old Istanbul. The hotel blends European polish with Turkish custom: days here open with Turkish coffee in the lobby and close on a terrace above the water. There are 239 rooms and suites, a number of them with access to the club lounge.
The kitchens span Anatolian, Japanese-Peruvian and Italian cooking, and some of the vegetables for Atölye come from the hotel’s own garden. Up top, wrapped in greenery, The Roof has an infinity pool; below, Spa Soul holds a hammam and an indoor pool. The Ekavart Gallery stages exhibitions and a cultural programme, and the hotel also has boutiques, jewellers and beauty salons. For events there is a ballroom that divides into three, five meeting rooms and a boardroom.
Location
The hotel stands in the Dolmabahçe area on Istanbul’s European side, next to Dolmabahçe Palace, with Taksim Square, İstiklal Avenue and Nişantaşı close by; the historic peninsula, with Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar, is 20–25 minutes by car. Istanbul Airport is 38 km away, about 40 minutes by road, and Sabiha Gökçen Airport 40 km. There is no shuttle, but the hotel arranges private transfers by Mercedes E-Class on advance booking.
Spa
Spa Soul has eight treatment rooms and a hammam modelled on 16th-century Turkish baths, with separate areas for women and men and a hammam suite for couples. Alongside are a 17-metre indoor pool beneath a ceiling of twinkling lights, a warm soaking pool (28 °C), a sauna and a steam room. The menu covers facials, massages and body treatments, among them The Secrets of Argan, a 90-minute ritual pairing a mineral clay scrub with an argan butter massage. The spa is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm by appointment; The Roof has open-air massage rooms, and the hotel has its own beauty salons.
Sports & leisure
The Spa Soul fitness centre is open around the clock, with cardio machines, ellipticals, exercise bikes, rowing machines, free weights and strength stations, plus locker rooms, a sauna and a steam room. The concierge arranges private guided outings: a full day in the old city taking in Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar; neighbourhood walks through Karaköy, Kuzguncuk, Üsküdar and Çengelköy; a shopping tour of the Spice Bazaar and the Grand Bazaar; a food trip along the Asian shore; and a two-hour private yacht cruise on the Bosphorus from Kabataş pier. Club Lounge guests can join a Turkish coffee workshop and a Turkish delight-making session. In season, The Roof hosts open-air cinema nights and DJ evenings.
For children
The Ritz Kids programme gives children a space to play and excursions to Istanbul’s most colourful sights designed with young guests in mind. Children also receive their own check-in welcome and turndown, and every restaurant offers an organic children’s menu.
Restaurants & bars
The restaurants and bars all face the Bosphorus, most of them with open-air seating:
- Atölye — contemporary Anatolian cooking from local produce and vegetables from the hotel’s own garden, from breakfast to dinner
- Nobu Istanbul — Japanese-Peruvian cuisine with a panorama of the Bosphorus, evenings
- Nobu Istanbul Bar — signature cocktails with Japanese and Peruvian notes, late into the night
- Limoré — Italian cooking: handmade pasta and seasonal dishes
- Bleu Lounge — a Bosphorus-view bar with Mediterranean-inspired bites, signature cocktails, DJs and live music in the evening
- The Roof — a rooftop terrace set in greenery with a bar, a Mediterranean menu and the infinity pool, in season

Swimming
There is no beach, but there are two pools. The 17-metre indoor pool in Spa Soul is open daily from 7 am to 10 pm, and in season the rooftop infinity pool at The Roof opens with sundecks and views over the Bosphorus.
