About this hotel
General information
Museum Hotel sits on Uçhisar, the highest point in Cappadocia, and is the region’s only Relais & Châteaux member. Its 34 rooms and suites were shaped from restored caves, stone houses and old ruins that, from the Hittites to the Ottomans, served as homes, stables, kitchens and storerooms. Cave tunnels, vaults and local stonework are not decoration here but the architecture itself.
The hotel is conceived as a living museum: hundreds of historical pieces from the Hittite, Roman, Seljuk and Ottoman periods, registered with the Nevşehir Museum, are displayed in the rooms, tunnels, public spaces and restaurant. Its own ecological gardens lie nearby, and a vineyard in the White Valley supplies the grapes for the house wines. Weddings and private celebrations are held on site, and guests must be 10 or older.
Location
The hotel crowns Uçhisar, looking out over several of Cappadocia’s valleys and towns. Uçhisar Castle is about 1 km away, the Göreme Open-Air Museum 4 km, the Zelve Open-Air Museum 8 km, Ürgüp 15 km and the underground city of Kaymaklı 25 km. Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is roughly 30 km (about half an hour) and Kayseri Airport about 65 km (around 45 minutes); the concierge arranges private and shuttle transfers.
Spa
Wellness is kept intimate: massages are tailored to each guest and given in the room or in a therapy lounge overlooking Cappadocia. Private in-room bath rituals use natural ingredients such as rose, milk or wine and are guided by a massage therapist, and for men a traditional Turkish barber sets up on the terrace in the morning while hot-air balloons drift over the valleys.
Sports & leisure
The concierge arranges hot-air balloon flights, horse riding and ATV outings, private and themed tours, cocktails and dinners out in the valleys, and private cooking lessons. Like a Local is a shared-table culinary experience built around Cappadocian traditions. A short walk away, among the fairy chimneys, the hotel’s ecological gardens invite guests to taste fruit and vegetables straight from the beds, and the walk can continue to the vineyard in the White Valley.
Restaurants & bars
Dining draws on the hotel’s own gardens, vineyard and local producers:
- Lil’a — contemporary fine dining on a farm-to-table basis, reviving forgotten Cappadocian flavours with produce from the hotel’s own land; breakfast (with honey from its own hives and free-range eggs), lunch and dinner, smart casual
- Cavo — a wine cellar in a restored ancient cave, with a selection from Anatolian producers, guided tastings and Turkish wine pairings
- Wine Tasting — a tasting flight of leading Turkish and Cappadocian wines led by wine specialists
- Private dining — on the Loggia terrace or out in the Love Valley; private breakfasts can be arranged too
Swimming
The historic Roman-style outdoor pool is heated all year, holding 30–32 °C even in winter, so a swim can come with snowy slopes or the valleys at sunrise as a backdrop. The pool is reserved for hotel guests.
Pets
Dogs weighing up to 10 kg are welcome.
