About this hotel
General information
Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet is an intimate hotel in the oldest part of Istanbul, a few steps from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. It occupies a century-old neoclassical building designed by the architect Mimar Kemaleddin, whose pointed arches, ornamental tiles, domes and towers still set the tone throughout.
At its heart lies a quiet courtyard planted with rosemary, peppermint and basil, where birdsong carries in the morning and the Avlu restaurant sets its tables; a winter garden and a pergola seating area sit alongside. Rooms and suites have high ceilings, wood-framed windows and original Turkish artworks spanning older and contemporary periods. The address is the real draw: the old city’s great monuments are all within walking distance, and the rooftop terrace looks across Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara. Six spaces, including a ballroom, host meetings and celebrations.
Location
The hotel stands in Sultanahmet, the historic core of European Istanbul, roughly a six-minute walk from Sultanahmet Square, with Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace and the Basilica Cistern close by; the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar are about a mile away. Istanbul Airport is 46 km away, around an hour by car, and Sabiha Gökçen Airport about 75 minutes. The concierge arranges car and limousine transfers.
Spa
KURNA Spa draws on the Turkish bathing tradition. Its hammam offers the classic ritual of kese exfoliation on warm marble followed by a foam massage, as well as The Shaman Hammam, a signature ritual with a peştemal wrap, rose foam, breathwork and a rosewater head massage. Biologique Recherche facials, Swedish, Balinese, abhyanga, deep-tissue, back-and-shoulder and foot massages, and a half-hour express massage complete the menu. The spa is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre is open around the clock, with free weights, cardio and strength equipment, plus water, fruit and morning coffee; a personal trainer can be booked on request. The concierge shapes personal itineraries around the city, provides guides and translators, and arranges private boat cruises and helicopter flights. In-house cocktail workshops and tastings of Turkish wines with local cheeses round out the programme.
For children
Young guests receive a children’s welcome programme with gifts and amenities, and babysitting can be arranged on request.

Dining centres on the courtyard and the rooftop terrace:

- Lingo Lingo — a relaxed lounge serving light dishes through the day and afternoon tea
- The Rooftop — a rooftop bar facing Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara, with live music at sunset in season
