Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus occupies a restored 19th-century palace at the water’s edge in Beşiktaş, on the European shore of the Bosphorus and looking across to Asia. Quayside terraces front the historic building, while modern north and south wings, a landscaped courtyard and a winter garden complete a property that feels more like an urban resort than a city hotel.

Interiors set clean contemporary lines against Ottoman detail: hand-painted ceilings, mahogany furniture and custom fabrics in deep blue or terracotta with copper and burgundy accents. Rooms and suites come in twelve categories, some of the suites with 180-degree views of the strait. The hotel is known for Aqua, its seafood restaurant beside the water, a spa with three marble hammams, an indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool, and ballrooms and terraces that host weddings and events.

Location

The hotel stands on the Bosphorus in Beşiktaş, one of Istanbul’s liveliest and greenest districts, close to Dolmabahçe Palace and a short hop from the fashionable streets of Nişantaşı. Istanbul Airport is 43 km away (about 47 minutes by car) and Sabiha Gökçen Airport 40 km (45–60 minutes). The hotel arranges airport transfers, limousines and a fast-track airport welcome, as well as helicopter hire and private boat cruises.

Spa

The spa has 10 treatment rooms and more than 16 face and body treatments. Its marble hammams are inlaid with an eight-pointed star, the setting for traditional and premium Turkish bath rituals, some paired with a massage. The menu runs from deep tissue, Swedish, Balinese and Thai massage to Abhyanga, hot stone and the four-hands Bosphorus Harmony, with facials such as the ultrasound-led Repairing Green Caviar Facial, the MLX i³Dome detox pod and a suite for couples. Guests can use the sauna, steam room, whirlpool, pools and relaxation lounge, and there is a hair salon.

Sports & leisure

The fitness centre, open daily, has touch-screen cardio machines, free weights and resistance equipment; certified trainers lead personal sessions, there is pregnancy Pilates, and in season yoga is held outdoors overlooking the Bosphorus. Afterwards there are the sauna, steam room and whirlpool. In-house activities include a chocolate-making workshop with a pastry chef and a cocktail workshop, and the concierge can arrange private cruises on the Bosphorus, helicopter hire and outings across the city, from Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace and the Grand Bazaar to its art galleries.

For children

Babysitting can be arranged, Yali has its own children’s menu, and young guests are offered milk and cookies at bedtime.

Restaurants & bars

The restaurants line the Bosphorus waterfront:

  • Aqua — Mediterranean seafood with Turkish accents and the Aqua Core tasting menu, serving breakfast and dinner beside the water
  • Yali — an all-day lounge off the lobby on the water’s edge for breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, cocktails and its signature Turkish pide
  • Ocakbaşı — a terrace restaurant for Turkish mezes and kebabs cooked over an open flame, with Gaziantep baklava to finish
  • Sunday brunch — Turkish and Middle Eastern mezes, seafood and sushi, live grill stations, wood-oven pide and a Turkish breakfast corner
  • In-room dining — around the clock
Swimming

The indoor pool sits beneath tall skylights and has underwater speakers, while the heated outdoor pool beside the Bosphorus is open to the whole family. The hotel has no beach of its own.
