About this hotel
General information
Argos in Cappadocia is a village within a village in Uçhisar, built on the remains of a monastery and settlement some two thousand years old. Its 71 rooms are spread across nine mansions that step down in terraces towards Pigeon Valley, linked by winding paths, gardens and underground tunnels. Restored caves, an ancient chapel, a former caravanserai and an old linseed-oil mill now serve as places to unwind, dine and celebrate.
Interiors pair volcanic stone, arches and vaulted ceilings with carpets woven by local craftspeople, handmade ceramics and contemporary furniture, so no two rooms are alike. The kitchens work with produce sourced within 60 km and herbs from the hotel’s own garden, while a cave cellar beneath the grounds holds more than 22,000 wines, including bottles from Argos’ own vineyards. Sustainability runs through the place: rainwater is recycled, plastic is banned from in-room amenities, and local farmers and artisans supply much of what the hotel uses.
Location
The hotel sits in the quiet village of Uçhisar, at the heart of Cappadocia, above Pigeon Valley and its fairy chimneys, with Tıraz Castle and distant Mount Erciyes in view from the terraces. Göreme National Park and its sights are close by, yet far enough to escape the crowds. Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is about 39 km away and Kayseri Airport about 78 km; transfers are arranged on request.
Spa
Argos Spa is a cave spa and one of the largest, best-equipped wellness spaces in Cappadocia. Facilities include an indoor pool set in a cave, a sauna, a steam room, a Turkish bath and a yoga area. Signature massages, scrubs and wraps draw on healing herbs from the region, while facials use Swiss Valmont skincare. The spa is open daily from 8 am to 9 pm.
Sports & leisure
The Technogym-equipped Argos Gym is open to hotel guests around the clock, with a personal trainer and private yoga sessions on request. The panoramic outdoor pool is open all year, e-bikes are available to guests, and a guide leads a daily tour of the gardens and historic spaces. The concierge arranges:
- sunrise hot-air balloon flights over Cappadocia’s valleys
- private themed tours of the region, including Kaymaklı and other underground cities and the Ihlara Valley
- valley hikes, full-moon walks, horse riding, bicycle tours, ATV and jeep safaris
- photography tours, including one by classic car
- ebru marbling, pottery and Anatolian cooking classes, a whirling dervish performance and the Zelve light-mapping show
Restaurants & bars
Two restaurants, two lounges and a cave wine cellar, with the full restaurant menus also available through room service.
- Nahita — Anatolian cuisine: seasonal tasting menus that revive forgotten regional recipes; breakfast and dinner
- Nahita Lounge — an open terrace for garden-herb cocktails and mezze at sunset; spring and summer only
- Seki — international cooking shaped by Mediterranean and Anatolian flavours, looking out over Pigeon Valley, Tıraz Castle and Mount Erciyes; lunch and dinner with sommelier pairings
- Seki Lounge — a living room with a fireplace and deep sofas, serving coffee, light bites and wine from morning until midnight
- Argos Cellar — a cave cellar of Turkish and international wines, including vintages from the hotel’s own 21-hectare vineyards on the slopes of the Kızılırmak valley; private tastings available
Guests can also book a cooking class, a sunrise breakfast on the terrace, a seasonal picnic, a barbecue on the grassy Monks plateau or a fireside dinner in the open-air winter corner.
Swimming
There is no sea here, but there are several pools. The outdoor pool overlooks the whole valley and is open all year, cool in summer and heated in the colder months, with drinks and light dishes served poolside. A second, indoor pool lies inside the spa’s cave, and several suite categories have private pools kept at 27–28 °C.
Skiing
In winter the hotel arranges trips to the Erciyes Ski Center on the volcanic peak of the same name, about an hour away, with slopes for all levels and sweeping views.
Pets
Pets are accepted under certain conditions, for a supplement.
