About this hotel
General information
Mandarin Oriental Bangkok opened in 1887 as Siam’s first luxury hotel and has stood ever since among tropical gardens on the Chao Phraya, the “River of Kings”. In almost a century and a half it has welcomed royalty and writers — Somerset Maugham, Joseph Conrad, Graham Greene — and become part of the city’s history.
An aristocratic atmosphere and faultless service remain its hallmarks. Every room is individually styled, the restaurants range from French to royal Thai cuisine, and the Oriental Spa has collected many prestigious awards. The 510 m² Royal Ballroom and a series of other rooms host events for two to 400 guests, and services include butlers, concierge, a limousine service, boutiques and a business centre. Weddings and honeymoon programmes are arranged on request.
Location
The hotel lies on the banks of the Chao Phraya, a 10-minute drive from central Bangkok and around half an hour from Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Spa
The Oriental Spa draws on ancient Thai traditions, Chinese medicine and modern Western techniques. Facilities include a sauna, an aromatic steam room, a Moroccan rasul, a hot tub, a relaxation area and treatment rooms.
Sports & leisure
There are two outdoor pools, a gym with modern equipment, two floodlit tennis courts and jogging paths through the garden. Guests can take Thai boxing lessons, yoga and aerobics, Thai cooking and local craft classes, bicycle tours, boat trips on the Chao Phraya and guided excursions.
For children
A kids’ club runs entertainment and fitness programmes, and babysitting is available on request.

The choice of restaurants is wide enough for a new dinner every night, and many of them face the river.
