General information
Banyan Tree Samui opened in 2010 on a hillside of tropical gardens that descends to a private cove on Lamai Bay. Every room here is a freestanding villa with its own pool and a polished interior, so the resort reads more like a quiet village in the greenery than a hotel.
The spa, with its treatment pavilions, is the centre of gravity; restaurants serve Thai and Western cooking and the bars keep a well-chosen list. There are pools for adults and children, a kids’ club, a gym, a boutique, conference and banqueting rooms and a business centre. Weddings and honeymoon programmes are arranged, and concierge, laundry, dry cleaning and parking are available.
Location
The resort sits in a private cove on Lamai Bay, on the south-east coast of Koh Samui, 19 km from the international airport.
Spa
The spa is set in several treatment pavilions, with face and body therapies grounded in Asian traditions, a range of massage techniques and wellness programmes.
Sports & leisure
Facilities include an outdoor pool, a gym and a yoga studio, with Muay Thai and Pilates sessions and excursions on offer.
For children
There is a kids’ club and a children’s pool. Babysitting is available on request.
