About this hotel
General information
W Taipei is a high-energy hotel in Xinyi, the business and entertainment heart of Taipei: the building rises directly above Taipei City Hall MRT station and the Uni department store, next to Taipei 101 and the Taipei Dome. Its 405 rooms and suites are oriented to the cityscape, and a number of them take in Taipei 101 in full.
The interiors play with art and bold design – animal sculptures inspired by the Chinese zodiac, stainless-steel map installations and artworks placed throughout the building. Life here follows the social rhythm of the W brand: cocktails at WOOBAR, music by the outdoor WET pool and the AWAY spa styled like a space capsule. The Whatever/Whenever service takes on any request a guest can think of, while the two-floor CONNECTED business centre and meeting rooms suit business trips too.
Location
The hotel sits in Xinyi above Taipei City Hall MRT station; the district's shopping malls are linked by footbridges, and the 89th-floor observatory of Taipei 101 is minutes away. Close by are the Elephant Mountain trail on Xiangshan, the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Raohe Street Night Market and Taipei Arena. Songshan Airport is about 4.8 km away and Taoyuan International Airport about 50 km; the hotel arranges limousine transfers from either on request, as well as a private car with driver. The nearest high-speed rail station is Taipei Main Station.
Spa
AWAY Spa is designed around the idea of a space capsule and opens daily from 10am to 10pm by appointment. The menu covers massages, including treatments for couples, facials and eye treatments, scrubs and wraps; signature treatments include a detox massage with a blend of oils and Dawn Awakening, which releases tension in the fascia with an infrared tool. There are separate lounges for men and women and a steam room.
Sports & leisure
FIT, the glass-walled fitness centre, is open around the clock, with cardio machines, ellipticals, rowers and stair climbers, strength machines and free weights, yoga mats, plus a jacuzzi and saunas and steam rooms in the locker rooms; personal training is available for a fee. The outdoor WET pool is the daytime hub. The Whatever/Whenever service handles any request – from restaurant bookings to VIP box seats at a baseball game, Chinese opera lessons from an experienced performer or a proposal at the top of Taipei 101.
For children
Babysitting can be arranged on request.
Restaurants & bars
The hotel has a restaurant and two bars; round-the-clock in-room dining draws on the menus of the hotel's restaurants.
- Seasons by olivier e. – modern French cooking on the 10th floor, with classic techniques, local produce and a seasonal menu; breakfast is served here too
- WOOBAR – a cocktail bar, relaxed by day and lively by night: afternoon tea, inventive cocktails and bar snacks
- WET Bar – an open-air bar by the pool with craft cocktails and light bites
Swimming
The heated outdoor WET pool, 25 m long and 6.5 m wide, is set in a landscaped deck; at one end it is framed by large stainless-steel water-drop sculptures, and alongside lies a sunbathing "beach" with wide views over Xinyi. The pool is open daily from 6am to 10pm, with lifeguards on duty, towels provided and a swim-up bar.
Pets
Pets are not allowed; service animals are welcome with no fee or paperwork.
