About this hotel
General information
THE AMNIS is an intimate city hotel in Kaohsiung's Asia New Bay Area, a tower of 147 rooms looking out over the harbour, the city and the mountains beyond. Water sets the tone inside: the soft sound of indoor water features, quiet natural materials and floor-to-ceiling windows. Each floor holds just six to ten rooms, and even the smallest measure around 60 m².
Contemporary art is the hotel's other thread. Its art programme is curated by the nearby ALIEN Art Centre, a contemporary art museum, with works throughout the public spaces, daily tours of the hotel collection and regular guided visits to the museum itself. Only guests aged 10 and above are accepted. Restaurants from the Japanese UKAI group, Dassai Bar for sake, a top-floor lounge, a spa, an outdoor pool and a gym complete the picture.
Location
The hotel stands on Zhongshan 2nd Road in Qianzhen District, within the business quarter of the Asia New Bay Area. The Kaohsiung Music Center, the Exhibition Center, the Main Public Library and the ALIEN Art Centre are all within walking distance, and the Sanduo shopping district with its Sanduo Shopping District metro station (R8) is close by. The Love River runs nearby, and Cijin Island is a short ferry ride away. Kaohsiung International Airport is about 6.6 km from the hotel; there is no hotel airport shuttle, and guests arriving by car have complimentary valet and self-parking.
Spa
The hotel spa offers massages, couples massages among them, and facials. The High Leap Floor adds sauna and steam rooms with locker rooms.
Sports & leisure
The High Leap Floor brings together the outdoor pool and a gym with cardio and strength equipment, including treadmills, elliptical trainers and exercise bikes. Art has its own programme: daily tours of the hotel collection in Mandarin and English, guided visits to the ALIEN Art Centre from Tuesday to Sunday and a weekly water-tasting course. The hotel's programmes also include a ferry outing around the harbour with views of the sea and the mountains.
