Grand Mayfull Hotel Taipei

About this hotel

General information

Grand Mayfull Hotel Taipei is easy to spot: two domes crown the building above the Dazhi riverbank, with hills and the river around it and views across downtown Taipei to the surrounding hills. The idea is Taiwanese character delivered to international standards — rooms furnished with input from local craftspeople, a house art collection on display, and a pool floor laid as one large mosaic.

There are 146 rooms, 20 of them suites, all on the fifth to eighth floors. Food is the hotel's main theme, with five themed restaurants ranging from Cantonese to Taiwanese and Italian, plus a café-bakery and a poolside bar. The fourth floor holds a heated outdoor pool, the fitness centre and the Mu Wellness sauna area, and a pillarless ballroom with a 7-metre ceiling hosts celebrations. The hotel is entirely non-smoking.

Location

The hotel stands in Dazhi, in Taipei's Zhongshan district, within walking distance of Meiti Riverside Park. Miramar Entertainment Park with its Ferris wheel is close by, and the National Palace Museum and Shilin Night Market are among the nearest sights. The closest metro station is Jiannan Road on the brown line, about 8 minutes on foot, and a free hotel shuttle runs guests to and from Dazhi metro station. Songshan Airport is 4 km away and linked to Jiannan Road by the same metro line; Taoyuan International Airport is about 41 km away, reached by the airport metro line to Taipei Main Station and two changes.

Spa

Mu Wellness on the fourth floor takes its cue from Japanese bathing culture, with a sauna, a steam room and hot and cold plunge pools. The sauna is open to guests aged 16 and over.

Sports & leisure

The fourth-floor fitness centre has Johnson treadmills, elliptical trainers and other equipment, and runs group classes for guests aged 16 and over — yoga, Pilates, TRX, strength training, foam rolling, Aerial Mellow Flow and cardio dance — booked in advance. Meiti Riverside Park, a short walk away, has a bike path several kilometres long with bicycle hire, and the hotel shuttle runs there in the afternoon; nearby are the Jiantan Mountain trail, popular for its evening views, and the butterfly path near Jiannan Road station, which looks out over the Taipei basin. Swimming is in the heated outdoor pool, and the Mayfull Shop sells home décor and the hotel's own room fragrances.

Restaurants & bars

Seven venues are spread across the lobby, third and fourth floors:

  • palette — buffet restaurant with Chinese, Japanese, Western and other dishes; breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus afternoon tea from Friday to Sunday
  • CHIU YUET FONG — Cantonese and Chiu Chow cooking and dim sum with an emphasis on fresh vegetables; Peking duck is a signature
  • MIPON — Taiwanese cuisine, classic home-style recipes with a modern presentation
  • HARUYAMA — Japanese restaurant offering kappo counter dining, charcoal grilling, sushi, teppanyaki in private rooms and nabemono hot pot
  • GMT Italian Restaurant — Italian cooking built on local vegetables and fruit, with brunch at weekends
  • Cocoon Poolside Bar — evening bar beside the outdoor pool, with cocktails and light dishes
  • Moment café & bakery — lobby café and bakery with tall windows, fresh bread, pastries and desserts
Swimming

The fourth-floor outdoor pool measures 25 by 7.5 metres and is heated to a constant temperature, so it is used all year. Its floor is a large blue-and-white mosaic, framed by Roman-style columns and a big outdoor screen, with Cocoon Poolside Bar alongside. Children under 14 swim only with a parent.

Pets

Pets are not permitted in the hotel.
