About this hotel
General information
Capella Taipei is conceived as a modern mansion in the middle of the city: 86 rooms and suites in the Songshan district, where European elegance meets subtle Eastern textures. Floor-to-ceiling windows look over the tree-lined avenue of Dunhua North Road towards Taipei 101 and the mountains beyond.
The hotel is known above all for its food and its sense of a private home. There are five restaurants – from an intimate sushi omakase counter to Cantonese cooking and an open-fire grill – and The Glasshouse, a bar complex spread over three levels. The heart of the house is The Living Room, where the Capella Culturists, the hotel's hosts for local culture, serve a traditional Taiwanese breakfast each morning, share board games with guests and shape itineraries across the city and its surroundings. Capella Wellness, a 14th-floor pool and meeting rooms complete the picture.
Location
The hotel stands on Dunhua North Road in Songshan, a busy business district of Taipei, within easy reach of Taipei 101, Taipei Arena and Songshan Airport. Suite guests are met with a transfer from Songshan Airport, Taoyuan International Airport or Taipei High Speed Rail station.
Spa
Capella Wellness is a calm space under barrel-vaulted ceilings, with treatments built around the lunar cycle: herbal infusions, aromatherapy and rituals for the new or waning moon. Facilities include four single treatment suites, a couples' suite with a hinoki-wood bathtub, a flotation pod for sensory-deprivation immersion, advanced skin analysis, a relaxation lounge, a sauna and a steam room.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre is equipped by Technogym and staffed by personal trainers, and a separate studio is set aside for movement and mindfulness. The Capella Culturists lead outings beyond the city and walks through Taipei:
- Tea Journey – a day in the tea country of Pinglin: a forest walk, leaf-picking on a private tea farm, a look at how the leaves are processed, a tasting of sparkling tea and tea cocktails, and lunch in a heritage building
- Songshan Reverie – a walk through the Songshan district past old banyan trees, public art, a teahouse and a design studio
- in The Living Room – Chinese chess and gomoku, grinding tea leaves for a traditional rice dish and blending a herbal remedy
For children
The Little Stars programme introduces young guests to everyday Taiwanese life through play: with the Culturists, children learn their first local words from flashcards, shape steamed buns with a choice of fillings, make chocolate bars and pralines from Taiwanese chocolate and mix their own bubble tea.
Restaurants & bars
The hotel has five restaurants and The Glasshouse, a three-level bar complex; room service runs from 6am to 1am.
- Mizue – sushi omakase in the spirit of a Japanese ryokan, with shoji windows and seats right at the chef's counter
- Rong Ju – Cantonese cuisine, with dim sum from bamboo steamers and wok-fired dishes
- Ember 28 – open-fire grill: beef dry-aged for 28 days, seafood and tableside carving
- Plume – the lobby lounge, devoted to champagne: breakfast, afternoon tea with artisanal coffee and, in the evening, a list ranging from great houses to grower cuvées
- Atelier Plume – French patisserie made with seasonal Taiwanese produce, from croissants to fruit tartlets
- Tilt (The Glasshouse, ground floor) – cocktails built on native botanicals, mountain herbs and craft spirits
- Playback (The Glasshouse, basement) – Japanese-style mixology, vinyl records and live music
- Cooper (The Glasshouse, upper level) – a quiet lounge for aged spirits and champagne, with tastings and masterclasses
Swimming
The pool sits on a planted 14th-floor deck, high above the traffic of the city. The Pool Terrace rooms and suites have their own terraces with plunge pools, and the suites add a jacuzzi.
