About this hotel
General information
The Dolder Grand crowns a hill above Zurich, not far from the historic centre. Built in 1899 as the Curhaus spa retreat, it is today both the flagship of the Dolder Resort and one of the city’s architectural landmarks. The main building keeps its historic character while the new wings are resolutely contemporary, and balconies and terraces look out over the lake and the city. Works by Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Fernando Botero and Andy Warhol hang throughout.
Four Top Suites pay tribute to famous guests — Herbert von Karajan, Giulietta Masina, Alberto Giacometti and the Rolling Stones. The 4,000 m² spa blends European and Swiss treatments with Japanese tradition, and The Restaurant holds two Michelin stars. A ballroom, libraries and meeting rooms host events, and weddings can be arranged.
Location
The hotel sits on a hilltop close to Zurich’s historic centre, about 12 km from Zurich Airport.
Spa
The 4,000 m² spa was conceived by Sylvia Sepielli, with every element, from the interiors to the treatment menu, devoted to rest and renewal. European and Swiss therapies show a clear Japanese influence and use La Prairie, Amala and Kerstin Florian products. Facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, steam fountains, a snow grotto, 18 treatment rooms, two spa suites, a Body & Mind studio and Sunaburo warm-stone baths in the Aqua Zone. The Medical Wellness centre specialises in anti-ageing medicine and laser and plastic surgery, and some procedures can be carried out during a stay.
Sports & leisure
Guests have the use of the Dolder Resort’s facilities: five tennis courts, an outdoor pool, mini golf, an ice rink in winter and a nine-hole golf course opposite the hotel.
Restaurants & bars
Two restaurants and a bar:
- The Restaurant — refined European cuisine by chef Heiko Nieder, two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points
- Saltz — dishes and cocktails built on local Swiss produce, 14 GaultMillau points; interiors by Swiss designer and artist Rolf Sachs
- The Bar — contemporary design, unusual lighting and skilled bartenders; one of Zurich’s most glamorous addresses
