About this hotel
General information
Mont Cervin Palace is one of Zermatt’s oldest grand hotels: its story begins in the 1850s, when a small Mont Cervin with 14 beds opened on the site. It later passed to the Seiler hotelier family, grew through successive extensions and took its present name in the early 2000s. It is a member of Swiss Deluxe Hotels and The Leading Hotels of the World.
The hotel is made up of three connected buildings: the Main Buildings with classic alpine-style Alpine Rooms, the Résidence with family suites, and the chalet-style Le Petit Cervin, linked to the main house by an underground passage. Every part has the same access to the restaurants, Spa Nescens and hotel services, and many rooms look out to the Matterhorn or the surrounding four-thousand-metre peaks. The hotel opens for a winter and a summer season.
Location
The hotel stands on Bahnhofstrasse, Zermatt’s main street, a short walk from the old village centre, with views of the Matterhorn and the Valais Alps. Zermatt is closed to private cars, which stay in Täsch, 5 km away, where a shuttle train leaves every 20 minutes; the hotel arranges limousine, bus and taxi transfers. The airports of Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Milan and Bern are a few hours away, and Zermatt has its own heliport.
Spa
Spa Nescens combines a pool and sauna area with treatments based on the protocols of Swiss brand Nescens — massages, facials and body care. Hotel guests have free use of a 20 × 8 m indoor pool heated to 28 °C in winter, two whirlpools with mountain views, a separate children’s pool, a Finnish sauna at up to 85 °C, a biosauna with colour therapy, eucalyptus steam baths and hot-and-cold footbaths; a women-only sauna opens in winter. The sauna area is for guests aged 16 and over.
Sports & leisure
In summer an outdoor pool and lawn add a quiet green corner in the middle of the village. The spa has a fitness room, and group yoga and stretching classes run through Le Club. The concierge arranges private ski tours, and around Zermatt there is skiing on the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, the cogwheel railway to Gornergrat, the ice sculptures of the Glacier Palace and, in summer, hiking such as the Five Lakes Walk.
For children
The Mini Cervin kids’ club is furnished and equipped by My Little Room and offers creative and play activities; its programme and hours vary with the season. The spa has a 40 cm-deep children’s pool. On request the hotel provides a cot, baby monitor, bottle warmer and children’s ice skates and can organise a babysitter; the family suites in the Résidence are designed for families.
Restaurants & bars
The hotel has several restaurants and bars, some of them open in winter only.
- Grill Le Cervin — charcoal grill with an open kitchen: Swiss Grand Cru beef, seafood, whole fish, pasta and an extensive wine collection
- Joseph’s Restaurant & Bar — restaurant and bar from morning to late evening, with international dishes, signature cocktails and live music
- Ristorante Capri — Mediterranean cooking by the team of Il Riccio on Capri, on the fourth floor of Le Petit Cervin, with one Michelin star and 17 GaultMillau points; winter only
- Capri Bar — a fireside bar on the same floor with views over Zermatt and a large Cuban rum selection; winter only
- Salon Davidoff — a cigar lounge with an open fire and a humidor of Cuban and Dominican cigars
- Wine & Dine — a concept that lets guests change cuisine daily between Swiss, Mediterranean and Japanese

Zermatt’s pistes rise to 3,883 m and include the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise; the hotel concierge helps with private ski tours.
