La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich

About this hotel

General information

La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich occupies a stately lakeside building that has welcomed guests for around a century. Philippe Starck reworked it from the inside out, imagining the hotel as a fictional yacht club: warm timber, brick and rattan, lake charts and yachting postcards, with a mood that is traditional in form and deliberately relaxed in spirit.

There are 40 rooms and suites across ten categories. Life revolves around Eden Kitchen & Bar on the ground floor and La Muña, set beneath the dome on the sixth floor and rated 16 points by GaultMillau, alongside the Eden Bar, a summer rooftop bar and a cigar lounge. A Clefs d’Or concierge, round-the-clock room service, e-bikes, paddleboards and free entry to the Kunsthaus Zürich are all part of a stay.

Location

The hotel stands on the Utoquai promenade in Zurich’s Seefeld quarter, close to the Opera House and Sechseläutenplatz, the Old Town and Bahnhofstrasse. Zurich Airport is about 13 km away; cars arrive at the main entrance on Kreuzstrasse.

Spa

There is no spa as such. Instead the hotel houses a Rossano Ferretti Hair Spa, known for its Ferretti Metodo cut and hair and scalp rituals, and therapists come to the room for deep-tissue and relaxation massages, Thai yoga massage and cupping using Nescens products. Sauna, steam bath and a ladies’ sauna are available at the partner club, Fitnesspark Stadelhofen.

Sports & leisure

Guests have free use of Fitnesspark Stadelhofen, five minutes’ walk away, with a gym, around ten group classes a day and a wellness area. The hotel lends e-bikes and, in the warmer months, stand-up paddleboards with instruction and electric Otter boats for the lake; a running route follows the shore. The concierge can arrange paragliding, indoor skydiving, museum visits and trips to the Rhine Falls, and a day pass for public transport is included.

Restaurants & bars

Two restaurants and three bars and lounges, with food designed for sharing:

  • Eden Kitchen & Bar — Mediterranean-inspired bar and restaurant off the lobby, with bay windows and stained glass by Ara Starck
  • La Muña — Japanese-Peruvian cooking on the sixth floor beneath the dome, with two terraces looking over the city, lake and Alps; 16 GaultMillau points
  • Eden Bar — lounge bar beside the lobby
  • Rooftop Bar — summer aperitifs and snacks on the roof
  • Eden Cigar Lounge — cigar lounge
Swimming

Directly in front of the hotel is Badi Utoquai, a public lake bath with separate men’s, women’s and mixed areas; hotel guests use it free of charge from April to October.

Pets

Dogs are made genuinely welcome, with an Alcantara dog bed, treats and a walnut feeding station in the room and a dedicated dog menu; daycare, grooming and even a paddleboard outing can be arranged.

Rooms

Starck styled the forty rooms and suites as shoreside cabins in soft, natural colours; their windows face Lake Zurich or a quiet courtyard.
