About this hotel
General information
Hotel Waldhuus Davos is a four-star-superior, chalet-style hotel on the edge of the Matta forest, one of the Davos Klosters Mountains properties. It sits right beside the 18-hole Davos golf course and the cross-country trail network, a few minutes from the town centre.
Its 108 rooms and suites are done in Alpine-chic style, most of them recently renovated, and each has a balcony or terrace with mountain views. Families, golfers and cross-country skiers make up much of the clientele, drawn by the Globi Kids Club, a wellness area of more than 800 m² with an indoor pool, a restaurant built around a show kitchen and the fireside Matta Bar. Five meeting rooms take events of up to 150 people, the hotel is a popular wedding venue, and there is a 24-hour reception and a garage with electric-car charging.
Location
The hotel stands at Mattastrasse 58 in Davos Platz, on the edge of the Matta forest and a few minutes from central Davos; the Congress Centre is a short walk away, and the golf course, cross-country trails and hiking paths start at the door. Zurich Airport is about two hours by train or car. A free shuttle collects rail passengers from Davos Dorf and Davos Platz stations until 6 pm when the arrival time is given in advance, and paid parking is available in the hotel garage.
Spa
The wellness area, at more than 800 m², has a large indoor pool, Finnish sauna, bio sauna, herbal sauna, steam bath, a heated bench with Kneipp treatment, an ice fountain and a relaxation room with an open fire. The massage team offers classic and specialised massages, beauty treatments, manicures, pedicures and massages for children. A 24-hour gym with Technogym equipment sits alongside.
Sports & leisure
In winter the hotel opens straight onto Davos’s free cross-country network and a floodlit night trail; the in-house instructor Barbara Flury and her team teach technique and lead tours, and skis can be left for overnight waxing. In summer the 18-hole Davos golf course, at 1,560 m, is next door, with six more courses in the region. Hiking routes on the 700 km Davos Klosters network begin at the hotel, and the kitchen packs lunches for the trail. The gym has a treadmill, cross-trainer, spinning bike and free weights.
For children
The 100 m² Globi Kids Club takes children aged three to ten for crafts, games and outings with the club staff, and supervision is free for hotel guests. There is a large garden with a playground, a 9-hole minigolf course and a youth room with table tennis and games. The restaurant has a children’s menu, baby and children’s equipment can be borrowed free of charge from reception, and the club team can organise themed birthday parties.
Restaurants & bars
Dining revolves around the Waldhuus restaurant, its sun terrace and a fireside bar.
- Waldhuus Restaurant — breakfast and dinner, fresh takes on Graubünden dishes and classics from the show kitchen, a strong wine list and a children’s menu
- Sonnenterrasse — sun terrace with a daytime menu of soups, salads, regional and international dishes, coffee and ice-cream coupes
- Matta Bar — cocktails, wines and coffee by an open fire, with live piano music in winter and a wine lounge designed with Vergani
Swimming
The large indoor pool in the wellness area is open from morning to evening, with more than twenty loungers around it.
Skiing
Davos Klosters Mountains offers 255 km of pistes across five areas: Parsenn, Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn, Pischa and Madrisa. The hotel’s free shuttle runs hourly to the Jakobshorn cable car and the Parsenn funicular, about five minutes away, and brings skiers back in the afternoon. Cross-country trails start at the door.
