Hôtel Métropole Genève

About this hotel

General information

Hôtel Métropole Genève has stood on Geneva’s Rive Gauche since 1854, facing the Jardin Anglais and the lake. Behind the classical façade of this five-star address, the guestrooms and meeting spaces have recently been redesigned, and part of the accommodation now occupies a renovated wing whose interiors draw on the building’s long history and on the idea of travel.

Rooms and suites look either over the lake or over the city, and range in mood from classic to contemporary. The hotel’s best-known space is the MET Rooftop & Lounge, a summer terrace on the roof with views of the lake, the Jardin Anglais and the Old Town. Four daylit meeting rooms host events for up to 180 guests, and the sister Restaurant-Hôtel du Parc des Eaux-Vives, set among century-old sequoias, is less than a kilometre away.

Location

The hotel is on Quai du Général-Guisan on Geneva’s left bank, directly opposite the Jardin Anglais and the shore of Lake Geneva. The boutiques of Rue du Rhône and the Old Town are a few minutes’ walk away, and Geneva Airport is about 7 km from the hotel.

Sports & leisure

Electric bikes are available for rides around the city and along the lakeshore, and the concierge team suggests ways to spend time in Geneva, from parks and museums to lake cruises and chocolate-making workshops. The Jardin Anglais and the lakeside promenade begin across the road.

For children

Adjoining and connecting rooms suit families, and the concierge can point out child-friendly outings in Geneva — parks, museums with free entry for children, boat trips on the lake, chocolate workshops and family escape games.

Restaurants & bars

The MET Rooftop & Lounge on the hotel roof looks out over Lake Geneva, the Jet d’Eau, the Jardin Anglais and St Peter’s Cathedral; open in the summer season from late afternoon, it serves creative cocktails, tapas and a broad choice of Swiss and international gins, and does not take reservations. Room service runs around the clock, and the sister Restaurant-Hôtel du Parc des Eaux-Vives is less than a kilometre away.
