About this hotel
General information
Hotel d’Angleterre sits on the shore of Lake Geneva, right at the heart of the city’s shopping and financial districts. Designed by the architect Anthony Krafft and completed in 1872, the building is now one of Geneva’s listed historic landmarks. Its intimate scale, refined style and faultless service soon won over distinguished travellers, and the golden book includes Céline Dion, Hubert de Givenchy, Sting, Robbie Williams and Michael Jackson. In 2005 The Leading Small Hotels of the World named it the best hotel in Europe.
A major restoration brought back the grandeur of the formal façade, the sweeping staircase down to the lobby and the marble floors, blending present-day comfort with the charm of another era. Windows open onto the still water of the lake, Mont Blanc and the mountain range on the horizon. There is a restaurant, a bar, a spa, a business centre and three meeting rooms for up to 200 guests.
Location
The hotel stands on the lakefront in central Geneva, 15 minutes by car from Geneva Cointrin International Airport and 700 m — a five-minute walk — from Cornavin station.
Spa
The spa has a gym and saunas and offers a varied choice of wellness programmes.
Sports & leisure
Several swimming pools and water sports such as windsurfing and sailing are close at hand, and in winter the ski slopes of Gstaad are within reach.
Restaurants & bars
Windows, an elegant restaurant with views of the lake and Mont Blanc, serves chef Philippe Audonnet’s cooking alongside a carefully built wine list. The intimate bar has live music every evening, with cocktails, other drinks and cigars.
Pets
Pets are welcome.
