About this hotel
General information
Set in its own private park among mountain slopes, a few steps from the centre of Zermatt, Grand Hotel Zermatterhof dates back to 1869. The idea came from the village priest, Josef Ruden, who suggested that Zermatt’s oldest and most respected families pay for a hotel of their own. The Zermatterhof still honours those roots, pairing an elegant, traditional atmosphere with thoroughly modern comfort.
Rooms are finished in an Alpine style of natural wood and stone, with views over the mountains, the park and the Matterhorn. The hotel has several restaurants and bars, a spa with a pool, a gym and conference rooms. A village church close by lends itself to wedding ceremonies, and the hotel can arrange the celebration that follows.
Location
The hotel sits in a private park in the centre of Zermatt, around four hours by car from Zurich Airport and about three and a half hours from Milan Malpensa.
Spa
The spa offers a broad treatment menu and a choice of massages. Facilities include a pool, two whirlpools looking out to the Matterhorn, a sauna, a sanarium, a steam bath, tropical rain showers and an ice fountain.
Sports & leisure
There is a well-equipped fitness centre and an indoor pool, and the hotel arranges winter and summer sports as well as sightseeing excursions.
