About this hotel
General information
Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski occupies a stately 19th-century Belle Époque building in St. Moritz, at the foot of the cable car where the ski runs and hiking trails of the Upper Engadine begin. The five-star hotel pairs classic Swiss hospitality with the resort’s urban polish, and its interiors take a contemporary Alpine line in larch, oak and stone.
At its heart is the 2,800 m² Alpine Spa, with indoor and outdoor pools, several saunas and cryotherapy. Alongside sit the hotel’s own tennis centre with tennis, padel and squash courts, a kids’ club, Greek, Italian and Alpine restaurants, a lobby bar and lounge, and a cigar lounge with a library. The hotel opens for a winter and a summer season, and has dedicated rooms for private celebrations and meetings.
Location
The hotel stands on Via Mezdi in St. Moritz, the Upper Engadine resort at 1,813 m, right by the valley station of the cable car. Guests are collected free of charge from St. Moritz railway station (arrange in advance), and transfers from the nearest airports can be organised on request.
Spa
The 2,800 m² Alpine Spa draws on the natural elements of the Alps. It has a heated indoor pool and an outdoor pool, a Kneipp stream and granite Kneipp baths, and the Mauritius spring, whose water guests can taste. The sauna area brings together a bio sauna, herbal, stone and Finnish saunas, a steam bath and a laconium; on set days a separate Ladies Spa with its own bio sauna, steam bath and aroma grotto is open to women only. Treatments cover massages, facials and body treatments, HydraFacial MD, Life Cube cryotherapy at −110 °C and a hair salon.
Sports & leisure
The Alpine Spa’s two gyms are open around the clock, with Peloton Bike+ machines, indoor cycling and fitness classes. The hotel’s tennis centre has three indoor tennis courts and two outdoor clay courts (summer), an indoor padel court and two squash courts, with coaching, equipment hire, a shop and a café. In winter the slopes and snowy trails start at the door; in summer the hotel arranges guided hikes, mountain-bike routes, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and boat trips on the lakes, as well as cultural and culinary outings in the valley.
For children
The hotel’s kids’ club welcomes children from two years old, with trained staff and a programme that changes with the season:
- summer — lake outings, woodland walks and a large playground, the Schellenursli story trail, music and singing, painting and crafts, kids’ cinema, quizzes and baking
- winter — sledging, skating, snow forts and igloos, gingerbread houses, festive crafts and horse-drawn sleigh rides on the lake
- babysitting on request outside club hours
- lessons for children aged 4–16 with the Alpine Sports Ski School
- a children’s football pitch at the tennis centre (summer)

Dining runs from a polished evening table to relaxed pizza, with in-room dining around the clock:

Pets
Dogs and cats are welcome for a fee and should be announced in advance. They may join their owners in the lobby bar, but not in the restaurants or the spa.
