About this hotel
General information
Hotel Eden Roc occupies a stretch of the Lake Maggiore shore in Ascona, where a palm garden, a private beach and its own harbour give it the air of a seaside resort. Part of The Tschuggen Collection, it belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World and Swiss Deluxe Hotels, holds two Michelin Keys and is Green Globe certified. The rooms were redesigned by the Ticino interior designer Carlo Rampazzi, known for his vivid use of colour.
The culinary centrepiece is La Brezza, with two Michelin stars. Within the grounds stands Casa Epper, the former home and studio of the expressionist painter Ignaz Epper, now used for exhibitions. The full resort season runs from April to late October; in winter the hotel operates from the Eden Roc Marina building and the main spa is closed.
Location
The hotel sits on the shore of Lake Maggiore, a five-minute walk from Ascona’s lakeside Piazza. Guests arriving by train are collected free of charge from Locarno station. Lugano-Agno airport is about 30 minutes away, Milan Malpensa 1.5 hours, Zurich airport 3 hours and Geneva 4.5 hours.
Spa
The 2,000 m² Eden Roc Spa has an indoor pool that opens to the outside (32 °C), a hydrotherapy whirlpool (34 °C), a Finnish sauna, sanarium, steam room, Kneipp pool and a separate ladies’ area with its own sanarium and steam room. Treatments use Pharmos Natur and Cellcosmet, and there is a Technogym-equipped gym and a hair salon. Children from 12 may use the pools with an adult; the saunas are open to guests aged 16 and over. The main spa closes in winter, while the heated pool at Eden Roc Marina stays open.
Sports & leisure
Three pools lie in the garden, including the main building’s outdoor pool (28 °C) and the Marina pool. The hotel’s own water sports school teaches sailing, wakeboarding and waterskiing, runs banana-boat rides and offers boating licence courses. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and OTTER water bikes are free, as is the Gandria motorboat, which needs no licence. A Riva Aquarama or Riva Rivale, a sailing yacht or a motorboat can be chartered. Guests also have bicycles, e-bikes, e-scooters and a Beach Buggy, the Moving Mountains programme of yoga and outdoor sessions, walks with the Outdoor Butler, honey harvesting from the hotel’s beehives, bocce, early-morning fishing and tennis.
For children
The newly designed Kids Club takes children from age 3 and centres on nature and sustainability; outings include trips on an expedition boat and banana-boat rides. Cots are provided free of charge in every room category.
