About this hotel
General information
Angleterre & Résidence stands on the shore of Lake Geneva, a few minutes’ walk from the historic centre of Lausanne with its boutiques, restaurants and cafés. The hotel occupies six elegant buildings dating from the 18th to the 20th century, and it was here, on 15 October 1893, that the world’s first school of hotel management — the celebrated École hôtelière de Lausanne — opened its doors.
Interiors balance contemporary design with a sense of history: fine furniture, vivid fabrics, paintings and photographs, distinctive lighting and fresh flowers are woven into a coherent scheme in every room, framed by views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The hotel is known for its gastronomic cooking and attentive service, and four meeting rooms host up to 60 guests.
Location
The hotel is on the shore of Lake Geneva, 5 minutes from Lausanne’s historic centre. Geneva International Airport is 35 minutes by car and Zurich 2 hours; Paris is around 3.5 hours by high-speed train and Milan 3 hours.
Sports & leisure
Guests have a large heated outdoor pool, open from May to September, and a gym; two tennis courts are available at the neighbouring Beau-Rivage Palace. Six golf courses, water sports and winter sports are all within reach.
Restaurants & bars
L’Accademia, one of the city’s best-known restaurants, serves Italian cooking in an intimate dining room and on an open terrace overlooking the lake. Le Bistro offers drinks and light bites, and the hotel also has a bar.

The 75 rooms are Superior Rooms, Executive Rooms and Junior Suites, each individually decorated and looking out over the gardens or the lake.
