About this hotel
General information
Ett Hem – Swedish for “a home” – occupies a private residence built in 1910 in the Arts and Crafts style, shaped by a Scandinavian sense that useful things should also be beautiful. Neighbouring townhouses of the same era have since joined it, but the idea is unchanged: a house turned into a hotel without losing the character of a home, while offering everything a modern traveller expects.
There are just 25 rooms and suites over four floors, and the shared spaces are sitting rooms, a library, a relaxation room and a secluded courtyard garden. The house is filled with objects and art that carry their own stories, fires are lit in winter, fresh flowers stand in vases, and guests are treated as friends of the family. The ease of a private home is matched by attentive, genuinely personal service.
Location
The hotel lies in Lärkstaden, a calm residential quarter of Stockholm very close to the city centre. The shops, restaurants and museums around Stureplan and the green slopes of Vanadislunden park are within walking distance, while Gamla Stan (the Old Town), the Royal Palace and the Vasa Museum are a short ride away. Stockholm Bromma Airport is about 10.4 km away and Stockholm Arlanda Airport 41 km.
Spa
There is no spa as such; wellbeing is handled in the manner of a private house, with a relaxation room and a concierge who arranges massages, facials and hammam sessions on request.
Sports & leisure
The hotel has a gym and a yoga shala with daily yoga classes, and Pilates, personal training or private yoga sessions can be arranged. Otherwise guests settle into the library, the sitting rooms and the courtyard garden, a quiet patch of green in the middle of the city. The house also hosts private dinners, receptions and business events, and a single floor or the whole house can be taken for an occasion.
For children
Families are welcome. Residence Suite C suits them best: it sleeps four, with a study whose sofa bed turns it into a second bedroom, and a child’s rollaway bed can be added in the residences.
Restaurants & bars
The kitchen is the heart of the house, where the chefs cook with local, seasonal produce in an international style with a Scandinavian accent. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served wherever suits – at a table in one of the two open kitchens beside the chefs or in the library, with cocktails taken in the garden – and the kitchen also welcomes non-residents by reservation. There is a bar and room service, and with notice the glass house is set up for lunches, dinners or cocktail receptions.
Pets
Pets are not accepted.
