General information
ZEM Wellness Clinic Altea brings a medical wellness clinic and a hotel together on the slopes between the Sierra de Bernia and the Mediterranean. The architecture is Mediterranean in spirit: natural materials, open spaces, shaded areas and natural ventilation are arranged so that the setting itself supports rest and recovery. The clinic covers 25 medical specialities, with 42 treatment cabins and 4,000 m² of spa and fitness space, and the house has its own 200,000 m² organic estate, Finca Althaya, which supplies most of the kitchen's produce.
Stays are built around personalised health programmes of 3, 7 or 14 nights (the Signature Health Check-up runs for 4 nights), each opening with a diagnostic assessment; the room rates shown on the site apply when a programme is booked. Guests may also stay on an accommodation-only basis, with use of the spa, fitness and outdoor pools and a choice of breakfast, half board or full board. Companions who are not following a programme can stay alongside participants.
Location
The clinic sits in the Altea Hills residential estate above Altea on the Costa Blanca, looking out over Altea Bay and La Olla island. Alicante airport is about 45 minutes away, Valencia airport around 1 hour 30 minutes, and the train from Madrid takes roughly two hours. A private transfer service can be arranged.
Spa
ZEM Wellness & Spa pairs time-honoured rituals with modern therapeutic technology, including Metawell systems such as Zestós DryFloat dry flotation, Welnamis vibroacoustic relaxation and the MLX i³Dome infrared treatment. The thermal circuits take in a bio-sauna, dry and infrared saunas, a steam room, an ice pool or snow chamber, sensory showers, a hydrojet pool and contrast baths. Signature treatments include the Mediterranean Longevity Ritual with sea-salt exfoliation and a wrap, the Sun, Moon and Earth Ayurvedic massage, Watsu water therapy and underwater massage, alongside Hydrafacial and INDIBA radiofrequency facials. ZEM Clinic, with its diagnostic lab and specialist consultations, is part of the same complex.
Sports & leisure
Training starts with an assessment of each guest's physical condition, followed by personal and functional sessions, cardio and strength work, sports rehabilitation, mat and machine Pilates, aqua cycling and guided walks. Yoga in several styles, mindfulness and breathing sessions address the mind. At Finca Althaya guests can join outdoor yoga, walk the estate's trails, take a guided farm tour that ends at the table, or cook with the team in hands-on workshops. The ZEM Boutique stocks supplements and cosmetics in line with the clinic's approach.
Restaurants & bars
Salvia, at the heart of the hotel, serves contemporary Mediterranean cooking on menus devised with the clinic's nutrition team: fresh seasonal produce, much of it from Finca Althaya, healthy fats and clean proteins, dishes free of added sugar and ultra-processed ingredients, and a considered list of alcohol-free cocktails. Everything is cooked from scratch and adjusted to individual needs.
Swimming
Outdoor pools are set within more than 10,000 m² of gardens, with quiet corners for reading and contemplation. The spa adds a hydrojet pool, an ice pool and a pool for Watsu water therapy.
Rooms
Eight categories range from rooms of 46–55 m² to suites of up to 200 m², each with its own terrace and planned to draw in fresh air and soft natural light.
Rooms have a TV, a Bluetooth music system, motion-activated night lights, automatic curtains, a sustainability panel, a minibar and Guerlain toiletries.
Standard Room
A room with a private terrace, a dressing room and a marble bathroom with a bathtub and Turkish shower, with partial views of the sea, the mountains or the gardens. Up to two guests.
Deluxe Room
A room with a dressing room and a marble bathroom with bathtub, shower and Turkish bath; the outdoor terrace, with a pool and lounging area, faces Altea Bay, La Olla island and the Sierra de Bernia. Up to two guests.
Deluxe Premium Room
A Mediterranean-style room finished in eco-friendly materials, with a dressing room, an outdoor bathtub and a Turkish shower, and a terrace with a pool overlooking the bay and the mountains. Up to two guests.
Feng Shui Room
A room laid out on Feng Shui principles, with a walk-in wardrobe, bathtub, shower and Turkish bath, and a chill-out terrace with panoramic views of Altea Bay and the mountains. Up to two guests.
Two-Bedroom Suite
A suite with two interconnecting bedrooms, a dressing room and a multipurpose room that can serve for massage or meetings; the terrace has a pool, a lounging area and a bathtub. Up to four guests.
Executive Suite
A suite with separate living areas and a room for fitness or massage, two dressing rooms, two full bathrooms with Arabic-style showers and two terraces with an outdoor bathtub and panoramic views. Up to two guests.
Grand Suite
An open-plan suite with a living and dining room with kitchenette, a room for massage or meetings, a dressing room and a chill-out terrace with a pool and lounging area; the bathroom has a bathtub and Turkish shower. Up to two guests.
Altea Suite
The largest suite, with a living and dining room with kitchenette, a multifunctional room, a dressing room and private terraces with a pool and sweeping views over Altea Bay and La Olla island. Up to four guests.
