About this hotel
General information
Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid is a Belle Époque palace in the Golden Triangle of Art, set between the Prado Museum and Retiro Park. It opened in 1910 as Spain’s first true luxury hotel, drawn up by the architect of the Paris Ritz and built as the country’s first steel-framed structure. Round-the-clock room service was part of the offer from the start, and the glass dome raised over the winter garden once again crowns the Palm Court.
A sweeping restoration by Spanish architect Rafael de La-Hoz and Parisian studio Gilles & Boissier kept the palace’s historic character while giving the interiors a calm, classic-contemporary polish. There are 100 rooms and 53 suites, among them suites set inside the three heritage turrets. The hotel’s own art collection — close-up details of Prado masterpieces reinterpreted by contemporary Spanish artists — carries the museum next door indoors. Chef Quique Dacosta oversees all of the dining, from Deessa to afternoon tea.
Location
The hotel stands at Plaza de la Lealtad 5 in central Madrid: the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums are 2–5 minutes on foot, Retiro Park a few minutes away and the Reina Sofía Museum about a 15-minute walk. Windows look out over the Paseo del Prado, the Neptune fountain and leafy Lealtad Square. Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport is about 15 km away, roughly 30 minutes by car; the concierge arranges chauffeured transfers, and valet parking is available.
Spa
The Beauty Concept spa is a quiet hideaway with private treatment rooms and a double suite for couples. Therapists tailor facials, body treatments, massages and beauty rituals to each guest, and some experiences can be booked in the room. The heat-and-water area brings together a heated indoor pool, a Vitality Pool, a steam room and a circuit of sensation showers. Children aged 6 and over have their own MiniMO menu using organic products, with treatments available alongside a parent.

Restaurants & bars
All dining at the hotel is led by chef Quique Dacosta.

Swimming
The 14-metre indoor pool in the spa is lined in white marble veined with grey and heated to 28 °C, under an illuminated ceiling that maps Madrid’s constellations and Preciosa crystal chandeliers. A Vitality Pool sits alongside. The pool is open daily from 6:30am to 9pm.
