General information
Claris Hotel & Spa occupies the 19th-century neoclassical Vedruna Palace in central Barcelona, listed in Catalonia’s architectural heritage inventory. Behind the historic façade lie contemporary interiors of fine wood, marble and glass, but the hotel’s signature is its own art collection: a gallery-museum shows pre-Columbian artefacts from Mesoamerican cultures, while Indian sculptures, ancient figurines and engravings from Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign fill the rooms and public spaces.
Each of the 124 rooms and suites has its own work of art. The rooftop holds a pool terrace and La Terraza del Claris restaurant, Os-Kuro Sushi & Robata brings Japanese cooking indoors, and the Mayan Secret Spa is built around Maya rituals. Modular meeting rooms include a museum hall with the pre-Columbian collection, and guests enjoy free entry to Barcelona’s Egyptian Museum.
Location
The hotel stands at Pau Claris 150 in Barcelona’s modernista centre, a block from Passeig de Gràcia. El Prat airport is about 15 minutes by car.
Spa
The Mayan Secret Spa draws on Maya healing traditions, with a temazcal steam lodge, a chromotherapy sensation shower and sensory relaxation areas; signature treatments include a pink kaolin clay wrap and the energy-balancing Chuun nak’ massage. Authentic pre-Columbian pieces decorate the space. Access comes with a treatment booking.
Sports & leisure
The rooftop has an outdoor pool and sun terrace with city views. The fitness room includes a sauna. Guests can visit the hotel’s pre-Columbian gallery-museum and enjoy free entry to Barcelona’s Egyptian Museum.
Restaurants & bars
La Terraza del Claris, on the roof by the pool, is a Mediterranean restaurant and cocktail bar with city views; it is heated and open all year, with live jazz on summer weekends. Os-Kuro Sushi & Robata is a Japanese sushi bar and robata grill serving tempura, woks and sake. Breakfast is a buffet with live cooking stations, with a VIP breakfast served on the terrace.
